ok this is interesting I was looking through the schedules online and I came across the schedule for Langdale from May 10 to May 18th there is a revised schedule with only 7 departures from each terminal. This looks to me like a Queen of Esquimalt schedule! But there is no service notice about it mentioning the Queen of Esquimalt or why there is a revised schedule. Anyone know?

They probably need to do some quick work to the Coquitlam if the schedule is like that.

Do we need to mention stuff that has happend in past years? SHAME ON YOU CHRIS, if a ferry breaks down, we blame it on you for mentioning of the past. The past comes back to haunt and mentioning brings it to the fleet.

It's advanced planning. Just in case there's an "Act of God."

Don't mention the Act of God! It could happen!

Coquitlam is going in for her refit, Esquimalt is replacing her.

8 day refit? Coquitlam usually goes in for refit in September. It's all probably some scheduled maintenance work.

the service notice / release regarding the New West's recent few-day refit said that it was to make sure the ship was in shape for the upcoming busy summer season; I'm guessing that since the Coquitlam's main refit is so far away, that this would have a similar purpose.

I think it's once a year... as everyship I can think of has been out in the last 7 months. Wait - maybe not the Alberni?

The New West is the only one I can think of.

All of them except for the Spirits C Class except for the Alberni which will go in this Winter Queen of Nanaimo and later this year the New West and a year later the Burnaby The Bowen has the new carpeting for some reason.

All of the Ferries have the Dogwood interior still, except for the Nanaimo, Spirits, Coquitlam, Cowichan, Oak Bay, and the Bowen Queen.
All of the Major Ferries except for the SOBC (I think) have been in for refit already. I'm not too sure about the the Minors though.

So when is the New West going in for refit?

The New West has already gone for refit. Supposebly she is supposed to recieve a very similar upgrade hopefully this Fall, same as the Nanaimo recieved last year.

I get the feeling the New West's refit will be a bit more expensive like the Spirits Recived However that was pretty much the same she should get the pipes and stuff covered up though since it's a bigger ferry route she's on

i was on the new west this weekend. it was....Uninspiring. shaky. creaky, and very very dirty. I wouldn't have my fleet without atleast one major ship like that... the fleet wouldn't have as much character without character ships

I like the New West, also. I like the fact that it's a speedy old V. I always time my trips to take the 5:15am out of Tsawwassen, and the 12:45 back, to avoid the Alberni, and the worst of the traffic. The upper lounge on the New West is usually pretty quiet, good for reading or snoozing. Would be nice if they finally gave the old girl a ceiling in the bow lounge. I've never noticed it being dirty.

I like the New West, also. I like the fact that it's a speedy old V. Actually, I don't think that she's ever been considered a V in the traditional sense; the 4 lengthened/deepened V-Sisters were different than the Bs to begin with, and were lifted at different periods of time (and even to different heights)... But I'm not trying to nitpick, actually. I always time my trips to take the 5:15am out of Tsawwassen. That's one of my favorite times to take route 30 out of TSA as well, even as a foot passenger. You miss the crowds, and are almost guaranteed the New West or a V; let alone the fact that you have the whole day ahead of you, even once you've arrived at Nanaimo.
