I'm sad to see the Paolo family get philiminated from The Amazing Race. I like the Linz's.
Re Ferries, I think it would be neat to see the pieces of the John Atlantic Raymond Burr on the highway......that would be neat to see.
I wonder if Canada Customs will hassle them at the border: "Do you have any goods to declare?". "just these pieces of a ferry". "let me calculate the duty & GST on that......".

As one stated earlier - BF tries out just everything, buying vessels from Scandinavia, order newbuilds from Germany and buy old American ferries as well now Fascinating for sure, I assume this is the DIVERSITY that get´s mentioned on the company´s homepage. As much diversity as you might find in an odd car-boot market..

Nice Photo of her alright. It's too bad the Paolo family is gone they were comic relief to me and the Amazing race is really not what I expected they didn't travel the globe they stayed in North America they could of at least went to Europe or something. So anyway the John Atlantic Burr should be a good ferry for the fleet

Hey Flugel you watch the Amazing Race??? That's cool, I love that show. Yeah I kind wish that the Paola family was still in the Race. They were so funny to watch. The ones I want to see gone are the Weaver Family. They are so annoying and the girls are such crybabies. I dident catch on to that right away, good one Flugel, Philminated, lol! That was cool to see Lake Powell too bad they dident have to take the ferry across, that would of been neat.

I preferred global travelling on previous seasons of The-Amazing-Race, so this current season is a bit sub-par, in my opinon.
They were in Calgary a few seasons ago, so it's not out of the question to have some BCF action in a coming season. The wait at a ferry terminal could be a chance for "bunching", or a missed sailing could be a critical error.
Now you've got me thinking. "Welcome to Bowen Island. You are the last team to arrive....."

Yeah that would be cool if they came to BC. I never seen the season were they went to Calgary. Currently I am watching Season 1 on DVD also as I havent seen that one before or the rest of them except last season and this season. I think the reason they are staying in the US and a few little jonts out of the country as it's a family version this season. But it's still pretty good.
"Welcome to Bowen Island, you are the last team to arrive, good news this is a non elimination leg and your still in the Amazing Race" lol!!

A good challenge on the Amazing Race they could do here is navigate the Gulf Islands without a map and find Saturna or Galiano then get to Long Harbour by finding the ferry that goes there the Nanny whoever gets to the Ganges Pit Stop first wins a 7 day Sailpass

yeah that would be cool. Maybe they should have a Canadian addition of the Amazing Race seeing you have to be American to go in the race.

Engineer,
When and where is the work been carried out on her?
Have the trucks reached Vancouver yet ? Why no Press - no Union issues either - very quiet on that front - why??

Um, why would there be union issues?
Why would there be press?
It's a pretty small event.

come on cascade, just because there has been union management head butting in the past does not mean that there will be any when this new vessel arrives.

Maybe there will be a photo of it on the trucks coming into town in the newspaper, but it's not big news I don't think. It's just a little ferry and won't have any interest to most people in Vancouver. I'm guessing the work would be done in Vancouver since I doubt they would truck it over to the Island in pieces. I don't know what size the "pieces" will be, but I imagine they might come during the night so as not to mess up traffic.

A huge piece of a ship being towed behind a truck is not a sight people, even in Vancouver, see everyday. I'm sure there will be some action in the media about it.
Hauling it over to the Island by truck? They won't fit that thing on one of the ferries...it is too tall. The average main car deck clearance is no more than 20' I believe.

actually on the car deck of a ferry it is higher than any overpass on a freeway. so if it has made it this far it can go on a ferry height wise

The four trucks carrying the hull were going to Tacoma, loaded onto a barge, then towed to a shipyard in North Vancouver . I wish I could show the pictures , but its still a no go yet.

Yeah, I'm sure they cut off anything like the masts and everything so it could be as short as possible so it wouldn't tip over going around corners. But I really would like to see what it would look like to see that ferry in pieces on the back of a truck. But remember, it's not the first time it has been on the road from here to Arizona, so I wonder if there is pics somewhere of it going down there back in 1985.

I believe every thing from the car deck up was cut off first, and shipped by truck, then the car deck and hull were cut into 4 each piece had a trailer constructed under it.
