If we are to save the Tsawwassen instead of the Sidney, should we run it as a ferry, or keep it as a private boat?
I think if we run it as a ferry, it would be a bad thing to BCF, unless we could run with them or something, and use their terminals, Yes I want to fix her up and get her to the standards of Transport Canada, then we can open with BCF.
If we keep it as a private boat, well there is mooring payment and of course the decision of deciding who has it and what for. I would like the Tsawwassen or one of the V class, but it is like trying to Catch Butterflies in your bare hands.

Again, BC Ferries is not going to keep 45 year old ships in their fleet. The town of Tsawwassen (or Delta in this case)...I doubt they would want it. A lot of them are greedy First Nations or rich people that don't like the ferries, period. Keeping it in service is not feasible. As the future progresses, we will look at ways to save the Tsawwassen.

As I Said, I will save the Tsawwassen/Sidney and fix them up, then run them between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay as Extra sailings when needed. Or keep them as my own private boat(s).

Are you Bill Gates´son If you are, then I understand that you can use some of your pocketmoney and get it and make it your personal toy, and of course everyone on this forum here will envy you. If you are an ordinary guy with no big $$$ then, - oh yes then, I do not understand why you are talking that YOU will renovate it. Sounds pretty funny, as well some of the other posts or is that more a lesson of - CANADIAN HUMOUR

I dont see the humor behind this. All I see this as is putting money into a gas tank and burning the gas along with the money.

So what will happen to the Q of T ? A part from Harry and his pocket money sailing off on her?
Will BCFS - put her up for auction ? Will BCFS - retire her - then quietly scrape her ? Will she be sunk for diving and if so where?
When Harry learns to read the Transport Canada rules & Reg's on vessel we will just have to put up with his wild ideas. The reason she is been retired is that "Transport Canada" will not grant her a license to trade in BC / Canadian waters - so how does Harry hope to run her as a ferry or anyone else for that matters in BC ?
The rest of the world - well that is another quesation...
As for a "floating" museum - well if the town concerned does the very simplest R&D - then they will soon see that it cost a hell of a lot to keep her while she sit's in water. Hence I don't think any sea side town will want her unless they have space for a "dry dock" - dock which she can sit in.

There are many floating museums throughout the world, and they make them work financially. Why can't it work for the Twa? I don't have the money, and none of us here do either. But how about donating the boat to the Maritime Museum in Victoria and mooring her there? That is the only way I see this happening financially. Otherwise she will be put up for auction and probably sold overseas.

I dunno why another ferry company don't buy her, Black Ball transport for example.

Black Ball is private and does not have the money to buy her and also it is again "burning money with gasoline".

Use the Queen of Tsawwassen as a museum of ferries or something

Black Ball is private and does not have the money to buy her and also it is again "burning money with gasoline". I never knew that, anyway they copied the plan for Sidney, so they have to return the favour, buying the other vessel or something like that.

For your information, Black Ball did not copy the plan for the Sidney. The Coho was built in 1958 and BC Ferries needed a design for there vessels so BC Ferries looked to Black Ball.

They've bought lots of parts off of the Sidney though. They bought all of the steering gears and everything along with steering wheel.

The Q of T will not be given a license by Transport Canada - she is very much on borrowed time right now.
So the life of a museum is about the only thing I can think of - but not in the water as the running cost would kill any long term plans. As for the BC Maritime Museum in Victoria - they don't have the funds to even look after themselves - plus they are looking to re-locate to "cheaper" premises. Some where inside the new Victoria Harbor complex.
I think it's home should be somewhere over - near Delta - Ladner - after its name sake...

Like I said before...Blackball has already had their way with taking pieces off of the Sidney.....Same with BC Ferries for the Tsawwassen

Well there are easy things that you can do right now to help save the Tsawwassen, such as writing your MP or MLA.

You don't need to contact any MP (Member of Parliament) or MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) but your own local one. In fact, contacting your *local* MP or MLA might be more effective, as we would, as a group, be contacting the most possible MPs/MLAs; and more MPs/MLAs means more votes in the house or legislature respectively.

Instead of talking a lot of hot air - why doesn't some one draft a letter to David Hahn and point blank ask him what they - BCFS - are going to do with the Q-of - T ?
You can ask you local MLA - but with BCFS not been under any so called political wing - they might be hard pressed to answer you.
