Nothing wrong with Webshots Mac! It's 3000 photos not 300! I like Webshots and I am going to use more of it! But by the looks of it your site dont have full images either.

It costs money to buy the domain names you know. If you play your cards right, it's free. I use Cjb.net, as a URL cloak, and it's great, and my actual host, SiteSled, gives me 100MB of space, which is more than enough that I need for my site. It cost nothing and it's ad-free! You, Mr. Write, seem to be wasting money!

A Website that will probably have very few visitors....

for a real website that is easy for people to find using a URL cloaking service is not the way to go. People automatically go to .con sites first. As for my images, I have turned off large and original file download, since I don't want people to have access to those images.

I want people to view my images, just not originals. Also this forum has the domain www.ferriesofbritishcolumbia.com you know. it just is pointing to the ProBoards home (needs to be fixed).

There are a few broken links on here. That link thing is probably something that proboards does. Proboards has been around 4 years. It's not going anywhere.

I wonder if Biff is still a squalor in North Van. Definetly not in my Part in NV, as I do live in the second most expensive area of NV. He must live in Lower Lonsdale

MAC Write - Fill the niche of Ferries pre-1960. Most of the companies back then were family owned - and most of the family members are dead - as for crew who worked back then - again trying to get them on the Internet is going to be very hard. Tourism is a growing business and one that BC needs - but via the Internet - Web for history on the Ferries in BC - don't think so - plus there are a number of sites up all ready. If you did your homework you would have found them. There are books been written now as I speak about the 1900's BC coastal ferry system. This line of debate I don't think is going to work for you. If your dead keen on selling pictures - images of ferries - then why not contact BC Ferries direct and ask if you can subcontract out there web - image selling business. I am sure David Hahn would listen to any offer. Mind you for the Market stall at Tsawwassen it cost them $10M plus a % on profit. So what price for a legal site

I have looked on-line and guess what? BC Ferry history is none existent. only very little info that doesn't tell much. That's all thats out there. As for selling to BCF they are annal about the type of photos etc they sell. I am not going to play that cat and mouse game with them.

BC Ferries - history only started in June 1960. They have produced there own version of that - very much through "rose tinted glasses" - which is NOT the correct version. As I said there are a number of web sites out there showing the Coastal Ferry service from 1900's to 1960. Plus there are a few books been written right now about it.
As for dealing with BC Ferries - on licensing their images to sell on - I don't see the problem - you need to put up the cash or no deal. BS walks - money talks. I think that Getty Images have got the market already - hence if you try and sell anything - you will find yourself knee deep in the brown stuff - legally speaking of course...The choice is yours...

I take my own photos I sell my own photos, legally no one can stop me, and I am not going to try to sell to BCF, if they want me they will contact me I don't have millions lying around to bribe my way in.

The question is who owns the logo on the side of the ship - who owns the silhouette of the vessel - as that is shown on there web site.
You can't sell the image without the written permission of the owner. I know that was the advise you got on the legal forum site.
So why are you trying to "pass off" the images?

Because I can sell the images because the says I can. and what legal forum did I talk on?

Think Mac, does much of the general public even LIKE ferries? I don't think you should be going to the extent of making a living off selling photos of them or you might get youself in a bad situation. Anyways Mac, think about us FOR ONCE and CHANGE YOUR Ć’UCKING SITE NAME!
