It's a mooring bitt.
Bo, the shameless attention-suck, leapt up spontaneously and grinned at the summer-clad babes passing by.
Too bad he's neutered. Too bad he's a dog. Too bad I'm not young and slim, with glistening ivory teeth like his ...
I hate you, Bo.

I was on the Esquimalt today (I just decided to gon on a ferry randomly today), and as I was wandering around, some lady who wasn't blind had their dog up on deck 6, and then I saw someone with their cat on deck 5. They must have not seen the not pets signs in the stairwells.

Or are just plain stupid! The say about pets when they announce to return to vehicles! Obviously if you dident hear the announcements they wouldent know! Although you think most people would!
Yeah I just randomly sometimes decide to go on a ferry too if it is a nice day like today! Good day for it!

Well, this was before the announcements, while we were still docked in HSB.

Some folks do sneak their small dogs and cats onto the passenger decks. I don't, even though our mutts are small(ish). Our dogs are real dogs, and I will endure our trips in the dog pen with 'em, until BCF changes the rules. Sometimes, it's a happy community down there:

BCF deckhands, without exception, have been very helpful to us.
On lightly-loaded trips, I have been guided right to the dog pen on C ferries; the deck hand takes time to find a water bowl, run fresh water from the hose, and make sure we are set for our short journey.
On capacity runs, the overworked deck crew still smile and wave me into the dog pen.

I don't think we want it smelling like the Esquimalt's cardeck yesterday. There was a manure truck down there.

No, maybe there is a small plae to do it, it's a good thing cats do their waste, then bury it. My little Bootsie Baby has done it since she first came to the house 5/6 weeks ago.

Dogs do need to do their thing. Adult dogs are usually good about only going outside. It's the puppies that may do their thing in the pen.

The SOBC got one in her refit this past winter, and I'm assuming that the SOVI will get the same next winter when she goes in for the same.

"Where do the dogs do their thing if they have to??? I think it would be messy and stinky down there!" I have travelled in the miserable pens on Coq, Cow, Surrey and Oak Bay, perhaps 16 trips in the past year. I have seen not one poop in these 100's of hours, nor a cocked leg. Dogs are very clean animals, and they have a sense of where and when to go. Adult dogs are especially predictable. If you have children, like me, you know when your toddler is likely to need potty. Dogs are easier. Unless ill, they poop twice a day, right on schedule. A 95-minute ferry trip is easily endured. To BCF's credit, the dog pens are scrupulously clean. BCF deck crew routinely hose down as much of Deck 2 as they can between off-loading and loading. They are washing motor oil, antifreeze and trans oil off the deck for safety, of course. The dog pen gets a wash at the same time. My complaint about the pens is their isolation, lack of ports, except on Surrey, and noise. Surrey's pen (circled) at least has an outside port, unlike the C's.

From my last post: "...in these 100's of hours, nor a thingyed leg..."
Hah! Now I know why "salt water" is corrupted when written as one word. Slow me. Substitute "lifted" leg in the above post, rather than c-o-c-k-e-d, and all is well.

"Salt Water"......ok, it took me a while, but I get it now.
Good thing there are no people posting with Japanese surnames on this board.....that would get filtered too.
