Tsawwassen Terminal, that pic you said you took from exactly that angle, I was on the SOBC and the pic was taken by my Dad just before I went up to the bridge. I suppose it regularly goes through there, but that is the first time I ever saw it, and I have been through active pass at least 4 times before. We saw some of it's cargo with Zellers and the Bay written on the truck trailers.

Thanx for the info, Harry. It's a great pic of the Doris. ---------------------------------------- Does anyone here know the history of the Seaspan Doris? The only thing close that I could find was reference to the Doris York(something)(I don't have the book here) in the book "Princess Story" by Norman Hacking and W. Kaye Lamb. (Sorry for being off topic)

What month was the accident - as it is 35 years - are BCTV planning any type of program on it - and if so why?
Was it March or September 1970 ?

I believe the month was August 1970 - also found this too.... interesting:
MR. WALLACE: A supplementary question, Mr. Speaker. With the reduction of crews on the B.C. ferries to the minimum allowed on the Canada Shipping Act, has there been any concern expressed, either by crew members or management, over the capacity of the crew to deal with emergency situations such as occurred in a collision with a Russian freighter in August, 1970, and the fire on the Queen of Victoria in November, 1972?
HON. MR. DAVIS: Mr. Speaker, I believe there has been some concern expressed. However, I will have to take the question as notice.
MR. WALLACE: A final supplementary, Mr. Speaker. Since the crews were reduced in number, have the regular fire and emergency drill procedures been rehearsed, and have the results of these emergency drill procedures been satisfactory with the reduction number of crew?
The government of the day - don't you just love them....always looking out for the poor worker...

BCTV - I would be very interested to see - if you can get into the Film library - see if you can find any pictures of the American Navy around the Queen of Victoria.
This whole thing was blacked out. Cold War and stuff.
We had a family friend who went out in his boat and took a few pictures. The America Navy then chased after him. I remember the RCMP then talking to his parents - all very strange stuff. I was in Grade 5 at school then - and it was real cool having the police come to the school and talking to us about the Queen and that the families of the people that died - would not want pictures been taken - so if anyone had any - could they turn them over ect....
Police state - springs to mind. A couple of years later - when Greenpeace was formed - I was there marching....

I was looking at the lower car deck, and it has the windows along there that only the Queen of Vancouver and Victoria have, so it has to be one of those two.

Yeah it could be. I could always tell the Queen of Victoria by her lighter paint. Her paint seemed to be not as dark and was a bit faded, so that is how I usually could tell it was her. He funnel too was lighter blue than the Queen of Vancouver. I would assume because she just hadent been repainted alot!

What year was the Queen of Victoria sold ? I also believe that they lay-ed her up for awhile before her sale - like a 24 months or so.
Maybe then - she is in or not the picture?

She was sold in December in the year 2000 and then left BC waters registered under Panama and the Queen of Ocoa on January 23 2001 I think.
