Back too the alberni, i was thinking, the alberni has been lfted and streched and rebuit and refit so many times it should be retired very soon after the v-class, but honestly they should have just built a normal c-class.

She is not all that bad of a vessel. A mid-life refit will do the job on improving her. It may take longer than expected, but hey, it's better than keeping her the way she was. As originally built, she was used to redirect all truck traffic between the Mainland and Island in Canada to her route, aboard her. But I don't think they should replace her any time soon as she is more than 10 years newer than the newest "V" Class vessel.

She's not that bad of a ship really. Her passenger area is smaller, but she's kind of unique in her own was as every bc ferry vessel is. If I am correct, on one end of the Alberni where she has the longest deck extensions, on the Cowichan and Coquitlam the passenger deck would go about half way of that. Would ya say, on each end. Which really wouldent be all that much of an extension on each end. Would you have like to have been on her a few years ago during that big windstorm that turned her 2 hour trip into a 7 hour trip ending up in Horseshoe Bay??? Would of been kind of exciting. That was not a busy sailing though as it was the 5:15am sailing.

anybody wondering why the Q of Alberni passenger deck is not as big as the rest of the C-class ships this might be why. As she was originally build for the purpose of being a truck ferry the need for a passenger deck is almost nil. For very truck carrying a super B this eliminates 6-7 cars. This is upto 35 less people on board. There then will not be as many passengers on the ferry. As the truck drivers using this ferry, and even the Q of New Westminister, probably do this return run 2-4 times a week they are probably tired of the clam chowder and sunshine breakfast so in most cases they are staying in the cab of their truck. If any of you have seen the cabs of these newer trucks they will agree with me that it is alot nicer to sit there then in the vomit yellow surroundings of the Alberni

The Super Cs are to be built for HSB-DB... moving them to Tsawwassen-SB would be a waste of resources and even BCFC isn't dense enough to not realize that. (Sorry for the double negative)
I can't even fathom why they would even consider, in the slightest, distributing the Super Cs around the system like that. Morover, the goal of those ships is to increase capacity on the existing Naiamo route... that'll sure do good with the same capacity for the next 6 years  Im going to look foirmally into vessel assingments b/c im pretty sure thats wrong, I know mine isn't 100% but that vessel lay out you posted (which Im sure did come from BCF knowing them) is cracked out.

The Super "C" Class vessels are meant for both Tsawwassen-SB and HB-DB. Two for the Tsawwassen route and one for the HB route. If they had them all on HB-DB, they would have to use two current "C" Class vessels on Tsawwassen-SB, and that won't do. They can't manoeuver Active Pass (as I've heard).

Actually no they wouldent have to use the C class. They could use one Super C on the Swartz Bay run and keep the Queen of Saanich on the Tsawwassen side as the other and have the two Super C's on the Horseshoe Bay route, which would free up the Cowichan and Coquitlam to either one go to Tsawwassen to replace New West, and the other as and extra for Langdale. Or one Super C on all three mainland routes but I dont think they need them on the Duke Point run.

Hate to say it, but the Saanich is expected to be the first vessel to be replaced, besides the Tsawwassen.

why would you ever need to replace the 2 spirit classes? they are beautiful boats. that are speciall designed for the run. dont move them, cause then you have to build special docks for where ever they go
