Does anyone know what the new Pacificay owners are going to do with them?

World wide markets may be depressed for this vessel style in passenger service however, reasonable selling prices make these attactive (unique) opportunities for the [glow=red,2,300]TEXT[/glow] operator. Expensive SOLAS/flag modifications may then become reasonable.
Don't be surprised if you hear about the Pacific Cats being employed in what we may consider a demeening role. Especially when BC Public has funded construction (and is still paying for) a tremendous revenue stream vehicle by a foriegn operator.

This fleet of three vessels sure have been sitting in North Van where they were built for a long long time it seems and wasteing away seeming only 2 of them were really used and when the last one was built it was wrapped in plastic and sat a Deas and has been sitting in mint condition in North Van still unused..the last time they were moved probably was when they went over to Canada Place to be auctioned off. If Washington Marine uses them as a ferry service to the island again I think it would be interesting to see what happens cause Ferries prevously owned by BCF and then sold by them and then competing with them for service. That would be interesting. What do you guys think would be more successful Super C's or the Fastcats (with seating problem fixed and all)??

Probably the Super C's since they can go on both major routes
And Flensburger Shipyard in Germany has a way for the new ships to get through Active Pass
I found this info on the BC Ferries Website and on the Boards here on the website
To see the clips go to newbuild program on BCF and click on (keyword) the shipyard and go to the bottom right corner on that page and click on videos from FSG

It is hard not to say "Pacificat" and "politics" in the same sentence.
It's a shame. Their local mission was poorly-conceived, but the boats are fine vessels. I'm not happy that Washington Marine got them for 5 cents on the dollar; but I do still hope that they will be used on our coast.
The Cats are not a ferry enthusiast's dream -- too little deck space, too much plastic interior -- but these boats will run like the wind. Maybe a Victoria-Seattle-Tsawwassen triangle? We'll see.

I'm afraid it's too late for that. The Pacificats are going to be renovated here, by Washington Marine and sent to the EAST coast to be floating casinos! It kind of makes me mad that they're sending all three of them to the east coast. They should be kept here, they were built here. They're not even keeping one here. Sad...very sad.

What do you mean theyre being sent to the east coast, what do you mean theyre going to have a refit here, what do you mean theyre going to be made into floating casinos! thats crazy! how are they going to get there? go down south through the Panama and back up? what part of the east coast, America or Canada?

Washington Marine Group currently owns them, but they'll most likely be sold after the renovation.

Even though they're gone now, on the new ferries they should put GPS screens around the ships like what the Fastcats had so you could see how far through the route you were at and the speed you were travelling at and how far you had gone in KMs. That is definitly one thing they need to bring back into the fleet though

The Three Cat's are for sale in Turkey - at $20M for all three - we have asked for details via our London office. The web site pictures show them with some of the BCFS / CFI paint works on them.
We guess that the Washington Group will make a small profit - as these types of Fast Cat's are very well known in Europe. Crap engines and the Front loading bay is way to heavy. They have really "bastardise" the design.

How are they for sale in Turkey if they're still sitting down here in Vancouver Harbour

Has anyone tried editing a picture of one of the Fastcats to see what they would of looked like in the new BCF colours? So I decided to try and see, it looks alright, but it's kind of sketchy but it gives you the impression, check it out on the front page of my site. www.geocities.com/ferryman162000/blueandwhiteferries.html

It's quite simple, you push the "insert image" button and you get a picture. just enter a URL in the Image tag. and here is a nice picture of the Queen of Saanich doing a powerslide!
