I figure the nanny will be retired in 10-15 years with this large refit that she's supposed to get soon, along with the Burn, and the New West

Probably all the B-Class that weren't lifted in the 80s will probably be retired about the same time

Yes. Maybe the burn later on because of her refit in the early 90s for the Victoria Line.

Dont tell me the Nanny is going to look like the SOBC inside??? I really dont think they need to go that far with a Burnaby class to make them all nice a fancy. Why dont they just update her and make her like the Queen of Saanich. New seats, carpet, dont have the hard floors all around, cover up the abesto ceilings, curtains on the windows, along the lines of how the Queen of Saanich looks. I love the new interiors but I dont think we need them on all major ships like the Burnaby and Nanny even New West, just update them all to look nicer the Saanich. Have new food items like on the major ferries even put white spot on, but do they need to redo the Cafeteria to have those new options??
So the Queens of Cowichan Coquitlam and Oak Bay take about 6 month to get redone and the SOBC only took 3. I am assuming that is because they did no mechanical stuff to the SOBC, is that right? I guess three months to do engines/mechanical stuff and 3 for the interiors for a total of 6 months for mid lifes.

The mechanical stuff during the SOBC's refit took about a month, as she spent a month in North Van.

The entire life saving system, cooling system, and way more was changed out in the Cs. That takes and is taking a long time. It's make obvious by all the visible changes at the car deck level when you look towards the vessel.

Yeah the upgrades on the C's is alot more complicated with that cooling system. It may take a long time to put together but it's really worth it in the hot summer ;D They also do alot of work on the upper car deck by putting some sort of ceiling on the roof of the upper car deck that covers up all of the pipes, and then there's all of the painting they do on the car decks. The time to do all of that adds up.

The Nanny is a nice ship, and it would be cool to see a B class with a new interior.

we at Hlynx have problem with the nanny, she has like doube her required HP, and that tend to generate alot of wake, and the lynx litterally wants to jump outta the water when we go through her wake

What?? The Nanny has too much HP? I think you're talking about the New West. The Nanny Goes nowhere near Nanaimo. The New West has something like 17,000 HP, the nanny only has 6000.

The wake must become a real pain in the ass when they run the New West at full speed, or if they can ever get her up on plane.

Does it make the Lynx rock?

Yeah I noticed when I was in the Cafeteria last time I was on here a few years ago with the amount of wake she creates, I couldn't tell if it was the ferry doing that or the swell was chasing us down Georgia Strait

The New West, despite being very powerful isn't "double what it needs" Look at the Vs, they have trouble maintaining Route 30 on a 2 hour schedule, let alone having the larger weight that the New West has. The wake from all the Vs/Bs is pretty bad as it's a now archaic hull design.

As ships are newer, there is less wake. Unless when it comes to those European ferries.

I've been curious on how much wake the Cs created going through active pass. Thats how I 'measure' the wake, sitting on a beach at Galiano as the ships go by.

the funny thing is, that the new west generates MORE wake than the Lynx, or even the Cats, and yet no one compains about her (that i know of)

I think thats because she runs in mostly open water

yes. but the cats could have run on that route too. as supplementals during the summer. as Car only, andif you removed the 1.4 Tonnes of Arcade equipment, then the cats would have run better too.

YOu're right, they should have been put on route 30, because it is open water for most of the way, and the full effect of the speed of the Cats would have been noticed by quite a bit.

yes, but the original design of the cat called for a relief of the large truck traffic @ horseshoe bay. making it possibly Consumer only, and having the commercial trucks take Tswassen, i think that maybe having one of the cat replace the Chilliwak, by turning her upper car deck into a Stateroom, and then making her run with the chilliwack
