Think they are the new of the v-class family and we do need to keep some ferries around for another ten+ years until we get the super c's and all those intermidiate class that never came.

Yup, if they plan to keep them around a bit longer, then may as well have a nicer interior.

And to keep a sence of symetry they could even put a sun deck behind the bridges of the nanaimo and the new west to look like the burnaby.

Yeah and have that type of glass that is sort of blue looking that is on SOVI, that is at the back, or is it both Spirits that have it? Or maybe it's just a sky reflection but I don't know it looks like it's blue to me.

No your right it is blue tinted, i call that area there at the back the wind tunnel.

Post by Ferryman on Jan 25, 2005 22:38:26 GMT -8
Is that because it's windy back there?

|
Post by Ian on Jan 25, 2005 22:46:45 GMT -8
No it's because the wall comes in blocking it of and the wind gets sucked through.

Actually even though it would be neat if they were all re done like the C class, it's also neat to have some ships still with the older look. Makes it more interesting, than if all the ships were the same.

I know the nanny's refit this year is supposed to be focussed on Customer service areas. I hope they re-do the interior, personally, I think the Nanny seems kin of cold on the inside, but that's just from an architectural student's point of view.

Hmm... I dunno if they should or not the intermidiate routes need the Nanny and Burn. Say what if the Burn was refitted to carry the same amount as the Nanny again and they could open the solarium and upper decks like all the other Vs

It might work, but I would keep the Burnaby's solarium as it is.
Just out of interest, how busy is the Comox-PR run during mid-summer? If it's really busy then maybe the Burn does need a higher capacity, but how would they do that, get rid of her chutes and replace them with whatever the old evacuation system is?

chutes are what the ferries are going with now. unfortunatly they reduce the capacity of the passengers and up the needed crew. should find a wy to do the reversed

I ment don't move the solarium to where all the V's were I ment open it to all passengers. Maybe the Burn could use more chute systems. The Burn's summer traffic is probably about 20 cars more bigger than the Tsawwassen car capacity who knows how many they get on the first sailings of the day there the busy sailings

I really do like the new look on the Cowichan and Coquitlam. I was on the Cowichan for the first time today since her mid life. Same as the Coquitlam pretty much. I like the cool little round tables and stool seats by the gift shop. That is pretty neat. I also was on the Queen of Surrey today. As much as I like the new interior I do still like the old interior like on the Surrey and the V class! Not much you can about that I guess, the Surrey will be the next to get her mid life. I dont really see them making the V class all fancy like that as they wont be in service for much longer when the new super C's come. Leave the V class like they are or maybe just make the Queen of Vancouver and Esquimalt like the Saanich. That is fancy enough for the V class.

I think the only differnce other than some of the late additons from the 1990s (elevator and crew lounge) is the extra row of seats on the Coquitlam in the A lounge. There is 22 extra seats in 2 sets of 11 and no way to walk directly through the lounge, you must go through the Cafeteria seating area now.

Yeah I hate that on the Coquitlam, but they were smart with Cowichan so that you don't have to walk through the cafeteria and can still walk through that lounge.

Who remembers on the v-class when the top deck solarium was opened up, then they closed it to make room for more passengers.

Didn't they do that when they lifted the V's? The Nanny and the New West still have theirs open.
