I haven't said this yet, but I chose "Pender Queen."
...In fact, when I say that, I really mean "...as the Motor Princess"
(I know that she never sailed for BCF under-that / with-that name / superstructure)

re the quote "Though it´s UTTER NONSENSE to wonder "if you had the power" blabla.. does not lead anywhere, though so just see the reality, please. "Chivy: If you had the power to have humour and the ability to dream, what would your dream be ? Sorry if that's too far from reality Yes, that´s too far from reality. I don´t have to dream because it does not lead anywhere, and the fleet they have nowadays is very much ok - and I´d for sure not wish any of their old ships back. My dreams.. I don´t know - I do have dreams but every time I do wake up I have forgotten what the dream was about OK, I just find, it does not lead anywhere to dream around or let´s say my dreams lead me more into the future than into the past really...

I voted for the Vic, but in keeping with HMCS Nanaimo's post.....
I know I could NEVER have the power to change anything...the past is the past and that can never be undone. But, given the pictoral history provided, it would sure have been great to have sailed on:
Motor Princess Cy Peck Pretty much ALL the old CP Coastal Steamship liners The original V and B class
And... to have been on the bridge when the Alberni hit hard on Collinson Reef...what an experience it would have been. The Vic vs. the Sergey Yesinen would have been a FAR more significant ride, but having your face impaled on a window following the impact would have been a DEFINITE minus.......( I saw the video and it MUST have been a very quick stop and about face)

The Air Quality in the Sidney's engine was too poor for the engineers to safely work down there.

So, why did they let the Sidney go? Why was she left to rot on the Fraser River and not sold? What was the difference between the Sidney and her sister the Tsawwassen that left her to such a sad fate? Sorry, I imagine this question has been asked before.

Sidney was sold, and it's her new owners who have her up near Mission.
Some folks here took a tour of her, at her current spot....during autumn 2005.
I had heard that Sidney's problem was the engine room fumes and ventilation on the car deck......at least that was one of the problems.

Thanks for answering my question - and for the welcome!
I'm glad that I still remember sailing to Comox on the Sidney some time in 1992. I got to do a little exploring, unfortunately no pics though. If I only knew then! Too bad the new owners never did anything with her.

More reasons for retirement were probably Rust and Asbestos. Hmmm...This make me bring up a Question. Why did the Queen of Victoria end up being retired way before her sisters?

I don't know the official reason, but from what I understand a lot of people thought the old girl was pretty snake-bit. The whole Sergei Yesenin thing for instance--and didn't she have some sort of engine room fire? I always understood that she was regarded as a hoodoo by the crew.

I guess she just wasn't in the best condition.
