Big plans but still, I didn´t see any of your ferry-models. I´m courious as I do such myself, although they consist rather of old cornflakes - packages, other cardboard, lots of glue, paint and matches & other stuff.. here two of them, there are more actually around 6 and doing a 1:100 scale of the Kalakala at the moment, too. The two here are a tiny 1:600 scale, was bit hard to build them and paint them and of course they are not remote-control but a decorative part of the bookshelfes here

What plans did you work from to get the shape and size?
I known the Silja line and other Baltic shipping companies offer a club to travelers - which includes plans and then they ask the "Kids" to send in there results - which earn them free tickets for there next trip, plus a visit to the Bridge or engine room.

Unfortunatelly not any plans, apart from one which shows the ship just from the side in the book "The Townsend-Thoresen years". And then get the rest from photos. For my current project I do have the complete GA´s which makes it much easier and due to this, and the large scale the result will be better of course. Getting plans you can forget - Brittany Ferries, Silja etc. do not hand out plans because of security-reasons so it´s always easier to get plans, pics etc. of ships that are not in service anymore. How are you guys and girls doing your models ?

If your in London go to Lloyd's - pay for the copies and you can get any GA's that are under there class. A1 size - about £1.20 per GA.

Harry and your friends - didn't you learn anything about the Sidney trip?
Billy Sandau is a life long friend of Art who actually is the sole owner of the Queen of Sidney - so please guys get your facts correct.
Plans - which we call these in shipping "GA" - learn the terminology pls. You can get these by writing to Lloyd's here in London - as she was in the Lloyd's class at one time and they hold all the GA's. There will be a cost. You should know that all BC Ferries vessel are Lloyd's class.

I just don´t understand one thing: Why do you make a big fuzz and already a long list, when you even have not built one model yet ? That strikes me a bit odd to be honest.
I´d like to know, what materials are you going to use, which methods will you use, to work on them. When I did start my first one, I did never tell anyone that I am doing one - as I was really not sure at all whether it will work, or whether the result will get binned. So I didn´t say anything and represent the ready (and not perfect) result that time.
Also, I am really not sure whether my advice is worth just anything for you. But I would not set up a time-schedule for your model building. Hurry is the model-builders worst enemy. Take as much time as you want, if it takes you one year to build one, then let it be like this. Take your time and enjoy while building, not always having the ready result in your view. Because then, you will hurry and your work will not be something what you can introduce as quality - work. I am building on one since June and I´d actually like to have it ready before I leave for holidays but I know, better not do that. It´s not worth, really to risk a bad result.
What do you think ?

Well that is just a plan, it might change, and of course, the constructions are about 6 months apart.
