Hi all, I was once an active member (So I thought) and have since re-activated my membership. What piques my curiosity is the recent postings by "7 Sisters". They tell of many significant tales and photos accessible to them, yet we see no results. Now, the "Net" can be intimidating and/or confusing to some, but it seems "7 Sisters" has told of LOTS and has piqued the interest of the members here, including "Wet Coast Kid" AKA Jim. Yet still nothing. I am truly sorry to all for my hesitation, but given their previous postings and lack of substance, I am left wondering.... Jim, in particular, (And many others), you have really provided some great footage of the history of this fleet and it is so much appreciated. I would like to give "7 Sisters" the same recognition, given the material they claim to have, but the "Proof is in the pudding"....so to speak.....but I have yet to see anything the least bit relevant, besides talk........... Anyone else share this, or am I just out to lunch......... Cautiously optimistic, Darren (bcfcbccsscollector)...I'm baaaaaack!!

Darren,
I agree, but I am cautiously optimistic. Mr '7 Sisters' is just learning the ropes of how this forum works, and may be new to the e-world in general, and to digital photography and photo web sites in particular. So I think we need to give him time and some coaching. I, for one, am willing to help him speed up this process. Hopefully in a few weeks we will see results. I am hoping that his historical stuff will complement my offerings, and those of others on here as well. It also sounds like he has stuff from the 1960's, and even pre BC Ferries. As I have said, this is tantalizing to me.
Mr. 7 Sisters may be someone like my brother, Mr DOT. He has always been a bit of a luddite, but has recently acquired a 2nd hand computer. The learning curve for him is slow and cautious. He is, however, coming along, and I am trying to help him as much as possible due to the fact that I live 600 km away. I am going to take a week off in the beginning of November and will come down to the deep Canadian south west and spend some time with him and my mom, and maybe do some ferry things too.

I have moved this topic here because it is regarding a member, not BC Ships or anything to do with the BCF Fleet.

7sisters keep persistant. This was the first forum I ever signed up for except for a blog I ran for a friend last year who was doing a major fundraising event. Before I signed up I kept in the shadows and just watched for a while. Some of the guys here are very proficient and smart and it easy to forget that since they have put so much time and effort into this and it is second nature to them, to the new it can be kind of intimating. It takes a bit to understand the logic of where things are, but once you get it, it all makes perfect sense. I tend to parachute in for short periods of time to get caught up. This forum keeps me in touch with a very important part of the world for me.
I don`t know how to post pics here, and I am not sure I will ever have the time to either. I don`t think it is probably all that difficult - I just haven`t tried yet. But neither have I put my attention to it properly.
There are some very talented people on this forum. I was chatting with one of them on msn the other day complaining how much trouble I had with with installing my Dad`s complex new home theatre system. My bud replied that he thought it was easy - and he proudly proclaimed - hey I am a nerd after all. ;D If I was closer I would have drawn on his nerdness quite thankfully and gladly!

7 Sisters, I am also relatively new to the photo posting thing as well. I do understand what a learning curve it is. Some members may get a little Rabid at times for historical photos; but, we are all very helpful in giving assistance about the "How-To's"on this forum....

Sorry you took it the way you did! I know the net and/or forums can be intimidating or confusing. The fact you work M-F puts a wrench in things. I was merely sceptical given all the posts and nothing to show. Might have been better to allude to something or even get everything done first, then splatter all of it here without fear of the drool hitting you (Including myself!) I was in no way intentionally "Slagging" you. But if you want some (Repeated) advice, use Photobucket to upload photos. VERY easy! Good luck!

To "bcfcbccsscollector"....I understand what you mean!...i am the exact same way with anything i am passionate about...When i got these slides i have mentioned from my old friend i too was drooling....In the future i won't mention anything i get "until" i am ready to put them on!!....I'm not trying to get people wound up like a spring...Over the weekend i will go on "Photobucket" and give it a try...If not I will pick a member who has their personal e-mail out there and send them all to him and they can post these pics!....These 60 pics range from the early 60's through the early 80's...A nice variety!.....

Boy. Locked threads, moved threads, posting tutorials, controversy over promised photos, his own dedicated thread... I'll bet '7 sisters' never suspected chatting about ferries would be this complicated.

We could make a movie called " 7 husbands for 7 sisters". No wait, hasn't something similar to that already been done?? ---------------------------

I'll bet '7 sisters' never suspected chatting about ferries would be this complicated. It doesn't have to be!!!! Draw on the current members if the "Finer points" need to be addressed! Posting on photobucket could not be simpler!! One merely has to acquaint themselves with the process and the rest is history! Present company speaking! Once again good luck and look so forward to seeing the much anticipated footage you speak of!

Hi...Started a thread...Of course in the wrong spot..Once again, thought talking about photos would be in the photo thread... ..... Once again, it's the " Starting a new thread" thing that's the problem here. We can work on the "wrong spot" thing later, but first we need to work on the "don't start new threads" thing.

So I understand because it is not making sense to me at all and I have been here long enough you would think it would. If you post pictures it goes in the Historical pictures? If you post a link where does it go?!! Since the whole subject of 7sisters last post was about his historical scans of ferries, where he put is exactly where I would have.

7 sisters Thank you for sharing those pictures. I really appriciate the time and effort that you put into showing those to us. I espically like the ones of the Sechelt Queen and the Queen of the Islands. Nice to see the New West before she was stretched and lifted.
And to Pnwtraveler I agree with you completely sometimes I have no idea where to place things too espically when there is so many threads to choose from. Geez!

If you post a link where does it go?!! Since the whole subject of 7sisters last post was about his historical scans of ferries, where he put is exactly where I would have. .....it doesn't have to be confusing. But if you start 5 new threads talking about pictures, then it can get pretty confusing in a hurry. Then we add to the mix a new thread about a poster (this thread here), and we move it to where it belongs. Then you finally have some pics....and yes those actual real pics would surely go into the "Historical photos thread". Most members here would just post into the existing historical photos thread to begin with. So it can be as complicated as you want to make it. Do the majority of members just want a free-for-all forum, with no housekeeping? Maybe I should have started a new thread just to ask that? If fragmentation and thread-clutter is what you want, go for it. I'm tired of housekeeping. (and yes, this is some frustration showing, from this whole Twisted-Sister episode....)

I've been watching this situation closely, and I thought it would be best if I offered my opinion.
7sisters: The process of posting is pretty straight forward, once you get the hang of it. Trust me, I learned pretty d*** quick what happens when you don't use the "Search" option before you start a new thread. If you have any questions I'm sure our professional and skilled moderational team would be more than happy to answer them for you, or you can always drop me a line.
I was in this situation once. I remember it well. It doesn't take long to figure out what you need to do to fit in around here. While understanding the forum within the first few weeks can be frustrating if you've had no experience, housekeeping is a challenge when you have to chase after someone and constantly monitor what they do.
So while I do have some sympathy for the new member, you do have to respect the time and care the moderators take to monitor such a large board like this.
Hope this helps.
PS: Great pictures! we appreciate you sharing them with us.
