When you think about it, there's quite a few Ferries for sale between Vancouver and Seattle. There's only so many people interested in buying "A" ferry. We have two V-Class, plus the Queen of Prince Rupert at Deas awaiting their fate. Then we have the two Albion Ferries who are awaiting their fate when they finish service pretty quick. However those might sell quickly. Then below the border there's 4 completely useless Ferries for sale, that were once considered as the Steel Electric Class. So that makes a total of 9 Ferries for sale in this region. At one point, there was 11 on the market, which was the former Queens of Esquimalt and Tsawwassen. Oh, and don't forget to add the Fastcats! Add another three to the list, because Seaspan obviously doesn't have any purpose for them. Tough market right now for the sellers if you ask me.
I wouldn't be too surprised to see the remaining BC Ferries for sale, go out to Auction like the Fastcats. They're going to miss having all of that extra berth space at Deas in a few months, and they will be desperate to get them out of the way. Who knows, maybe any potential buyers are waiting for an auction, to get a killer deal for the boats. What do you all think?

And don't forget Chinook and Snohomish, the two passenger-only catamarans WSF just sold.

Former WSF boat Olympic is also for sale, and I seem to recall an ad in the recent past for Alaska State Ferries' Bartlett, somewhere in the Puget Sound area.
Then there's the Garibaldi II, perhaps not for sale, but also not gainfully employed, as far as I know.
The price of steel is so low, and the economic climate for speculative ventures involving conversions of old car ferries so poor, that it's definitely a buyer's market... except for the fact that there are next to no buyers.

The Queen of Tsawwassen, Queen of Esquimalt, and Queen of the Islands have sold on the "plus" side so to speak. The first two were sold in far better economic conditions, and I am lead to believe without substantiation that the QofI sold for very little considering what market value may have been 2 years ago.

I wonder if there are any Ferries for sale elsewhere that would work as a replacement for the Chilliwack ?
I wonder if the Chilliwack's replacement will be The Queen or ----------. or something else?

The annual report said that the Queen of Tsawwassen had been sold for 'nominal proceeds'. I think that's another way of saying 'next to nothing- we just got rid of it'.

We are about to bid final farewells to the ILLAHEE, KLICKITAT, NISQUALLY, and QUINAULT. www.wsdot.wa.gov/News/2009/06/SteelElectrics_062209.htmWe'll see if the 1980s deck houses are saved and used again somewhere.

Does anyone know where exactly the Queen of Tsawwassen is moored? I didn't think she was as close as the Northern Gulf Islands.

Chinook is still in Eagle Harbor. I wonder what the schedule is for her relocating down to San Francisco? We'll be seeing some more vessel retirements over the next several years. I understand from all of you that Queen of Chilliwack will be one of the next ferries to go, if-and-or-when construction of Northern Discovery is complete. Plus, some of BCF's oldest minor vessels are scheduled to be replaced, correct? On the US side of the border, Rhododendron is supposed to be retired in 2012, Evergreen State in 2014, and Hiyu sometime around then, as well.

Exactly. Shows how out of date/incomplete the document is. What else could be missing? A good guideline though.

Former WSF boat Olympic is also for sale, and I seem to recall an ad in the recent past for Alaska State Ferries' Bartlett, somewhere in the Puget Sound area. . The Bartlett has been donated to a Maritime Academy located underneath the Ballard Bridge in Seattle.
