That's sucks that they're waiting until Tuesday to Depart. I was under the impression all day that it would sail out sometime this afternoon as soon as the ballast was pumped out. So I sat on the edge of my chair for most of the day watching Siitech, to see if it was showing any signs of departing so I could catch a Route 30 ferry and chase it down the Strait.
On another note, the Voyager looked pretty good out there. Looks like WMG actually cleaned her up a little bit. In the Global News video, I was surprised to see the ship out of the water at the end, and showing a nice clean hull. I had thought for sure that she'd be covered with seaweed down there. Even the Superstructure looked reasonable, besides a few streaks of dirt below the bridge wings, and venting along the sides of the ship.
Can't wait to get out and hopefully watch one of these ship liftings myself!

Here is a screen capture of Global's video of this story: CAPTURED FROM GLOBAL TV CANADA It's a good thing that ship has two wheelhouses! The load completely blocks the view of the main one aft. The forward one is quite unaffected, except for some aft views. Good designing by all parties involved in the construction of the MV SWIFT of Willemstad (Do you remember this port of call used by RedWise in the delivery of two FSG ferries to BCF?).

This source says the first move is slated for Monday. Another source says Tuesday. I'll be standing by my screen Monday and capture any possible sightings from webcams up in Vancouver, the west side of San Juan Island, Victoria, and lastly Race Rocks. By the looks of "Coastal Skier"'s photos, that rig looks ready for the sea. Good luck MV SWIFT of Willemstad and fair seas!

Here's one of Coastal Skier's pictures, cropped and enlarged by me. I like the head-on look, with the illusion that the Voyager's bridge is part of the Swift.

I was thinking about this whole operation last night. I guess this could be quite a light load for Swift. The Voyager might take up most of the deck space on Swift, but she is quite light. I had always though the weight of the ferry would keep her on the deck, but apparently she is going to be welded to the deck of Swift. That must be quite a task because of the aluminum hulls, they must of had to make custom adapter plates for Swifts steel deck.
Also, there isn't much growth on the hull of Voyager, did Seaspan actually clean the hull off once in a while?
I just find this whole process quite amazing.
Cheers,

I thought there would be huge kelp growths or green stuff on the hulls.

Cheers, Keep in mind, the Voyager was the last ship to be built, obviously. She's been in the water for the least amount of time, or least 2 years less than the Explorer. She was also never used for service with BC Ferries, and she never even got to sport the Dogwood, or company name. As soon as she finished sea trials, she was shrink wrapped, and laid up at Deas. She was babied while the other two were providing supplemental service on long weekends until about 2001-2. The Voyagers hull doesn't look too badly though, but there's definitely some growth under there, and it will be a pain to clean that off. I feel sorry for the poor bugger who has to go under there and scrape it all off. I can't wait to see how the Explorer looks when she's out of the water. Her starboard bow looks just awful. Re: Pacificat renaming/branding. Lets call her the Arabian Camel Cat Voyager. The paint on the side will be changed to a camel. When she approaches the dock, bow to, it will look like her mouth is opening to prepare to spit cars out. Nevermind the detail for the stern. Excellent photos everyone! I'm certainly glad there's been a fair amount of people out there documenting all of the events. Wishing I had tomorrow off from work, so I could watch it sail under Lions Gate.

It would be interesting to see how she is repainted when she gets there. Will have to replace the cougar. Cougars aren't desert animals. But how about a camel? That would be interesting. She already has a hump (the observatory). ;D A fish on the entire side would be neat. When you look at a Pacificat, you'd instantly would think that this is a giant fish with a big mouth that opens up to spit out the arriving load and swallow her boarding load. Very much like species of salmon with their mouths that open and close, very similar to a Paciicat's mouth. Like a whale, too. That was my first impression of the bow design of these Pacificats. A big mouth and a big burp! ;D ;D

Cougars aren't desert animals. [ot]I'd disagree on that one...they may not be a native to Abu Dhabi, but cougars, aka the desert puma, are most definitely at home in desert terrain! [/ot]

Yes Markus, co-owners with CMS from France. There are rumours there is more of an "arrangement" with the shipyard and purchase of the French shipyard, if not an "operating agreement" to be more politically palatable, might be next. *And btw Qatar is looking at purchasing a well known shipyard in Gdansk so there is a lot of movement in the industry right now.

The SWIFT, with the PACIFICAT VOYAGER in her hold, is now making her move. First movement was detected on the online tracker at 1131PDT.
