I saw the pacific cat from Canada Place. Would the swift have trouble in high seas with a big load on her?

Depends on the size of the load. I saw a show on a a larger ship that carried a oil rig. they had to scrup the lift afew times because of weather.

I saw the pacific cat from Canada Place. Would the swift have trouble in high seas with a big load on her? Naaaa... I think that cat will purr like a kitten on her deck. I guess that these kind of ships can carry big container cranes. The destination sign reads SINGAPORE. That must be the SWIFT's refueling stop.

If these vessels were in good working order would they be able to handle a transoceanic voyage or does their aluminum construction preclude high seas travel?

Ferrynut... can you stand on that resort camera at the Southwest corner of Orcas Island? www.islandcam.com/westside.htmlThis is from the west side of San Juan Island.

From the Highland Inn, San Juan Island: 08-26-2009 1805PDT That's her at the right heading south. Victoria is in the background. The northbound freighter is the SOUTHERN STAR for Vancouver. 08-26-2009 1820PDT Looking southwest. Our Olympic Peninsula is in the background. I guess that the PACIFICAT VOYAGER won't be seeing mountains like what we have at her new place of intended service.

If the charters are planning on charting the entire voyage of the Voyager, and also her 2 sisters, may I suggest that someone create a new "Fast Cat Charting" thread.
That way, the discussion on the actual sale and possible Abu Dhabi issues won't get buried underneath the great charts.
Thanks guys.

Excellent stuff, there mon ami. ;D Was watching you work the camera, while continuing the charting. As you can see, there were several times when I let the ship leave the screen. I was busy doing the PRINTSCREEN thing and pasting on my paint program and saving each image. After my last capture, I selected my best and cropped them for presentation. It's been a fun evening. Time for a dinner break! ENJOY THESE HISTORIC PHOTOS!...AND ONLY ON THE WEST COAST FERRIES FORUM, THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!

The Dockwise website says there are 3 sister ships to the SWIFT. So I assume we will not be waiting for the SWIFT to make a return trip before the next PacifiCat leaves? Does anyone know for sure?

...And, just for fun! Do these seagulls look like they're ready to take the PV off the SWIFT?

Well, it's been a fun day watching this ship. From Vancouver Harbour to the open sea. Nice availability of webcams to use and capture images.
For Mr. Keenleyside, great charting!
Now that she's on her way, I'll change my focus of attention to view another attempt to launch the OV DISCOVERY for Station ALPHA. That attempt is at 0022EDT Friday (2122PDT Thursday). Hope things go well.
Good night.

I was wondering what course is best to get to the UAE. I was wondering if they would go through the Panama canal and then up to Europe and then through the Suez canal, or if they would go accross the Pacific Ocean. Looks like they are heading across the Pacific and then north of Australlia and into the UAE.
Cool,

They are going across the Pacific. Her destination sign currently reads "SINGAPORE".
