Three boat service for July 27th (Celebration of Light) and July 28th (Caribbean Days) If the weather is good I'll probably spend these days hanging out by the water getting shots of all three in service

For a brief moment today, both original Seabus sisters were tied up. I'm not entirely sure why, but the Burrard Otter was the one who was in service earlier in the day. However, she's back on the run now. This was taken around 12:30 this afternoon. Twin Seabuses by Deck-dog SSI, on Flickr

The Otter suffered a mechanical breakdown early this afternoon, so for about an hour, the Breeze was the only ship on the run.

The April 2014 issue of WESTERN MARINER magazine reports that Damen Shipyards in Singapore launched "Burrard Otter II" in mid March.
Arrival date to Vancouver is unknown.

Should be a neat sight to see it arrive on the deck of a float-on-float-off.

For comparison, here's Burrard Pacific Breeze during her Christening ceremony: www.flickr.com/photos/thebuzzer/sets/72157621760672939/Lots of changes to BOII, and not just ones that were later added to BPB like the extended bumpers. Below the waterline, we see the strakes on the bulbous ends, as well as "bulges" along the midships section; seemingly missing are the vent-like items on BPB in that area. Above the waterline, there are new anchors, "headlight" arrangements, taller vents, larger passenger windows as mentioned by Chris, and what seems to be larger fore-aft windows on the bridge.

The May 2014 issue of WESTERN MARINER magazine has a couple-page article on BO2. It includes a deck-plan drawing of her passenger cabin.

While I was in New Zealand last December, I had the opportunity to take a Milford Sound sightseeing cruise. Actually, I was supposed to go Kayaking but the weather was so poor upon arrival that the kayaking company cancelled the trip (it really was pretty awful) and stuffed us onto a standard sightseeing cruise. Of the five of us that were scheduled to go kayaking, I was the only one who had any experience, and knew that the conditions were suboptimal. I was fine with the boat ride (though I would have planned my itinerary differently as I had no interest in the sightseeing cruise) because of the conditions but the rest of the group were pretty worked up about it. After the cruise wrapped up the weather cleared (remarkably, actually) and our guide did take us out for a couple of hours, which was neat. Anyways, the weather was awful and i didn't grab any pictures of the large sightseeing fleet in Milford Sound, except this one, on the bridge. Imagine my surprise. Also, the Mayor Council wants to increase the SeaBus service by 50% to 10 minute service only during peak periods and 15 minute service all other times. I don't think you've done your math right here. While a 50% service increase does bring headways down to 10-minutes during peak, most of the off-peak service is already running at 15-minute headways. So no increase there. The 50% service increase would only be valid during the evening when headways are currently 30-minutes. My two cents: I think that frequent service (15 minute headways, per Seattle Standards) should be provided every day from 6 to 10 everyday. Why? Well, that's exactly two 8-hour shifts which makes it perfect for the crew. At peak they should just push the boats to what they were designed to do, aka make a roundtrip in 20 minutes instead of 30.

I got from that they will be no 30 minutes service on the SeaBus from start to end of the service day which is about from 6 am to 1 am, excluding peak period when it is 10 minutes.

The Burrard Otter 2 was out on sea trials again last night. Looks like they got her up to a whopping 25 knots, with most of the trip done above 20.

If you go to the vessel page on MarineTraffic, it shows the max recorded speed at 25 knots (it was 26.3, but the data must have expired).

The 20 minute thing has been done in the past, some summers in the early-1990s. Too much wake, too much cross traffic and a no-flex turn around time rendered the 10 minute cross impractical. I doubt we will ever see that again.

Very lucky the holds didn't snap during offloading. We have seen a few unlucky deliveries in YouTube videos. Safe delivery. Welcome home, MV BURRARD OTTER II!
