Just an update on the fleet review poster. It seems that the original contract between me and bc ferries cannot be found. So if someone will tell me how to put up graphic on this thread, I will post the original poster for a better view than above, or just go to www.thehumorousimage.com/fleet-review.html My printer told me he can do this on archival paper, poster paper, or canvas. If you can afford it canvas is by far the best. Any way, if you are interested please go to the above site for more details.

I will try to offer it on proper poster paper for $20 not including shipping. If you want it on canvas, I'll have to let you know.

Update on the fleet review poster. It seems that a search of old archive boxes at the ferries storage site, they have come across 2-3 hundred original posters that they may let me have seeing as I am the artist. I'll let you know how it works out. If it's true, then of course they will be a lot cheaper, mostly postage and a small stipend for me.

Hi SuperBird: Please take a look at the last few day's posts in the below thread, and please give us some insight into BC Ferries protection of their logo-integrity in terms of artists doing images of ferries. ferriesbc.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=nwf&thread=2266&page=14Have you ever had the BC Ferries logo-police after you because of imperfect reproduction of their logo or colour-scheme in some of your ferry artwork? What precautions do you take in your work?

Here's something posted in the Queen of Chilliwack thread today. I'm not sure why it was posted there, so I've assumed that it was artistic license and I've decided to censor our artist and move his post here. ;D There seems to be a lot of interest in the fleet poster, although I only received 2 emails requesting a copy. They are $15 each plus postage, so, $20 in all. You can get the particulars and a look at the poster at sites.google.com/site/tomspaintedimage/home I am the artist by the way.

Make sure the frame is "ferry-worthy" I'll be getting a frame too. Does anyone know a good frame store that sells nice-looking frames at discount prices? No job, limited budget, ya know...

A question about the poster that's been tormenting me since I got it.
There's only ONE ferry on this poster I don't recognize.
To locate it, go to the bottom right corner of the PICTURE PART of the poster, then with a ruler, measure 18cm to the right, then move your finger straight up from that point. It's the ferry on the bottom. First I thought 'Howe Sound Queen', but I don't think she looks like that...

If it is the Howe Sound Queen, she is in between the PRQ and the Bowen/Mayne and the Nanaimo and Burnaby
If she is on the other side of the PRQ and Mayne/Bowen, it is probably the Vesuvius/Saltspring Queen.

A question about the poster that's been tormenting me since I got it. Here's your homework, youngling: - Process of elimination: go through the various minor vessels on your poster, and eliminate the obvious ones. If you have 1 vessel left, and haven't identified the HSQ yet, then your mystery ship is likely the Napoleon Hound Dog. If you have 2 of 3 vessels left, consider that it might be the SS-Queen and the V-Queen. You can decipher what I'm saying...

I've also positively I.D'd the H.S Queen. My mystery ship isn't on BCF's fleet page, so I suspect it's been retired. It looks a tiny bit smaller than the Queen of Capilano. edit: here's a photo of it on the painting. I hope this isn't illegal to do this See, on the upper left. That's either the SSQ or the VQ. The one in the middle puzzles me...

Have you accounted for the Powell River Queen? That ship looks suspiciously like the PRQ with the altered pax deck.

Oh, that's the mystery ship? That's easy. As Scott would say, "Without a doubt that is the PRQ".
PRQ is the only ship with sides like that.

It's obvious that there's an invisible section hiding the Queen of Richmond in there! And if that were the PRQ, wouldn't it have the big ugly black smokestacks in the sides??

And if that were the PRQ, wouldn't it have the big ugly black smokestacks in the sides?? Flugel's right. That's definitely PRQ. Whoever did the painting just didn't include the smoke stacks, that's all.

And if that were the PRQ, wouldn't it have the big ugly black smokestacks in the sides?? Big Ugly Smokestacks? You mean like this... For your answer I'll Direct Your Attention to the photos below...see if you can spot some differences. It appears those smokestacks were installed sometime in the last 10-15 years. If that doesn't convince you, than it isn't the PRQ, it's the Campbell River Queen.

Why did they add the smokestacks?? They obviously didn't need them since they weren't there for the first 3 decades of her life, and their addition sure didn't help her appearance.

I believe the stacks were added when she received her four Caterpillar M/E's...
This is the same with the Mayne and Bowen, as well.
