For today we have... The City of Bellingham named for the city and home of my alma mater, Western Washington University. The M.R. Chessman, named for Merle R. Chessman, member of the Oregon Highway Commission from April 8, 1943 to October 1, 1946. The Nisqually. Both a river and glacier on Mount Rainier have the name Nisqually, as well as a tribe.

Asbury Park (actually a city) Ummm, having been there, I might comment on the fact that "city" maybe stretching the boundaries of truth a bit! ;D

The Ballard named after the city of the same name. At one time Ballard was its own city before being pulled into the greater Seattle area. The Charles Van Damme. This was all I could find on him, and it was about a state park named after him in the Bay area: It (the park)was named for Charles Van Damme (1881–1934), who was born in the area and purchased the land that is now the park with profits from a San Francisco ferry business.[Edit: presumably the ferry named after him was one of his.] On his death, the property became part of the California state park system.
The Defiance, named after Point Defiance, part of the route it originally served. Courtesy of Wikipedia: Point Defiance Park began as a military reservation after the Wilkes Expedition visited Puget Sound in the 1840s to map the bays and estuaries. Wilkes is thought to have noted that with a fort positioned at the point, and at Gig Harbor across the narrows, one could "Defy" the world.

When the Van Damme came north, was she renamed, or did she serve in Puget Sound der the CVD name?

We'll now go with the Florence K, later the Beeline. She was named for builder B.F. Kunkler's wife, Florence.
