(rofl)Buy and restore the Sidney! HA! See, if were running the Black Ball, I would of bought a PacificCat when they were on sale by the BC Gov't. Yes you heard me. The route the Coho takes would of been a much better fit for the monsters and I think down the road if they wanted to do Victoria-Seattle somehow or some other route, it would of fit the bill.

You'd have to do something about the lack of comfortable seating and outside deck space on those things first. One ride on a PacifiCat was all it took for me to give them a major thumbs down. The speed was cool, though.

The speed was cool, though. Good Seats would be easy to fix, however, considering what the Coho has now for seats, I think a seat on the PacifiCat would be an upgrade... Outdoor deck space is a problem on most HSC-registered ships, however with that said, I would put up a solarium type deal instead...

Great to see Black Ball keeping the old girl looking so pristine! Nice job.! At this rate it is very conceivable that the Coho (Spaulding) will outlast all her B.C.Ferry cousins.

Well, once the Burnaby and Nanny are gone, she pretty much will have outlasted her Spaulding cousins, with the exception of the New West, of course.

I have always been wondering if the Coho ever uses the port side door ever the opposite of the door which they use to load & unload at Victoria. Did they use that side before they constructed the current terminal in Victoria?

Did they use that side before they constructed the current terminal in Victoria? Yes, the port vehicle deck door was used for the original Victoria terminal, which was located across the Inner Harbour, where the Visitor Information building (the old Black Ball building) is.

Coho ferry and her Victoria terminal are included in this "Island Transportation" forum video, produced for the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance.
(I was happy to give a few photos to the producer for this project)

On the subject of loading a big rig onto Coho, from the Victoria side door: Loading in Victoria is a bit tougher than unloading. The crew on the Coho do an excellent job of guiding in the tight spots. The real challenge comes when there are lots of trucks and we need to load on both sides of the ship. I pull super-b (2 trailers). So backing into the bow to get to the other side is VERY tight. I need to curl the rear trailer around the pillar in the bow to have the room to get over... Lots of fun Like this, just happens that I needed to be on the other side today, got another driver to snap a photo

If you don't want to get sea sick on the Coho, I recommend going to the centre. DO NOT GO ON THE BOW AS THIS WILL GET YOU SEA SICK! Also, another tip: When leaving both Port Angeles and Victoria, watch out for the breakwater. When you pass it, you may get sea sick.

Hello "British Metric 144": What's the fascination with sea sickness on the Coho? You asked me twice about it, on my YouTube video comments. Has it happened to you?

Not really. It's just that was what it looked like if the ship was really rocking and swaying that hard.
