A very nice simulation. Well done! I like that you put Kaleetan back in the San Juans. Yes, I know Bremerton is her home now, but most of Kaleetan's life, up until recently, has been spent serving the San Juan Islands, so it is very fitting for your simulation. I also enjoyed seeing you run Kaleetan through Pole Pass at the end of your simulation.

The Kaleetan is indeed missed at Bremerton. I'm not hearing any specifics on how traffic is being affected, but how can it not?
What usually happens in this case is when Kingston downsizes, there's a certain percentage (I don't know the numbers; it wobbles) of vehicle traffic in North Kitsap County that is right on the geographic break-even point for Winslow and Kingston. If there's a smaller boat at Kingston, they drift to Winslow. So in addition to filling and backing up Kingston-Edmonds, Winslow-Seattle also feels the load. I don't know if the same thing happens at Bremerton, though.

I don't know if the same thing happens at Bremerton, though. It does. My sister works for Kitsap Transit at the Bremerton Terminal and she's told me that right now, there's lines of cars being left at the dock because of the increase in terminal traffic due to the bleed-off. And both ferries have been leaving at capacity. It's one reason why I've been hesitant about going up to approach the captain of the Kaleetan right now, because I prefer to cross on a light run and I know that right now, things are pretty much the opposite.

Having the Kaleetan in Kingston means the loss of 36,000 car spaces per month in what is usually the busiest vehicle ferry route in the world.
You can have it back asap.

Well, i thought that Mukilteo had more vehicle traffic. Confirmed by stats: www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/traffic_stats/annualpdf/2011.pdf

I had a job to do in Arlington today, so I went up via the Edmonds-Kingston ferry rather than dealing with Seattle traffic. In the morning, I was on Spokane. The return trip was on Kaleetan. So, here are some fresh Kaleetan photos from today (6-Dec-2012) on her most unusual assignment at Edmonds-Kingston: It was a very blustery morning, which made for some great stormy condition photos. We were heading to Edmonds on Spokane - Kaleetan was, of course, going the other way. Kaleetan at Edmonds A little afternoon sunshine spilling onto Kaleetan's Texas Deck I've never noticed the "Kaleetan Cafe" sign before, but then again, I haven't been on this ferry in almost 2 years. How about a "Pot o' Gold" at the south end of Whidbey Island, as seen from Kaleetan while we were still docked in Edmonds Kaleetan on the Kingston side

Hm, I don't recall there being a "Kaleetan Cafe" sign on my last crossing. As I recall, there was a huge poster of Mt. Rainier in that spot.
Either way, I would've LOVED to've been aboard the Kaleetan in those shots showing the whitecaps on the sound... I've been aboard the Kaleetan in similar circumstances and it was a fun ride, lemme tell ya! LOL
Those are excellent photos, I gotta say!

So here is a question, why do they call it The Texas Deck?? lol! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_(steamboat)Those types of upper decks came into style right around the time when Texas joined the USA. The largest deck cabin was named for the largest state, which was Texas.
