Here's one out of the suggestion box...
For August, I am looking for submissions showing the bow of a ferry cutting through water. Your submission should only focus on the vessels bow and the resulting bow wave created by its movement through the water. BC Ferries, WSF or AMHS vessels are acceptable. Submissions showing the entire profile of the ferry, such as this of the New West, are not acceptable in this ballot.
You may submit up to three (3) photos for this ballot. Usual size restrictions apply. For further information, please see our Forum Flagship rules, located here. Nominations will end on July 30th at 9:00 PM PDT. Voting will commence shortly thereafter.

This is a fun idea, Scott. I'm enjoying the work of reviewing my pictures for the tiny wave-detail that I usually ignore.
- it's surprising which photos have some good bow-wave, and which don't. (a ship coming into port is slow......so not much of a wave usually).

kaleetan_bow_wave by srosenow_98, on Flickr My submission, of my most favorite ferry. Will be submitting two more once I locate suitable candidates. In order for your nomination to be eligible, you will need a 960x240 sized link with each of your nominations. Because if you win, it's the 960x240 LINK that becomes the forum banner. I couldn't find your link to the banner-size. - It needs to be obvious to find and easy to find (just like everyone else's in each month's nomination thread). - It needs to be a URL that takes you right to your banner-photo (again, just like everyone else's on this here thread does). A URL to a FlickR page that shows the photo (and also a bunch of FlickR stuff) isn't eligible. - ask if you need some help. Some of us Canadians speak Washingtonian (a bit roughly, but somewhat understandable, haha). But the simplest thing for you to do is simply observe how other people present their nominations in this here thread, and do thou likewise.

The Flickr link includes a full-size version?

The Flickr link includes a full-size version? Take a look at any or all of the other nominations in this thread. - your link needs to go straight to a displayed banner photo, just like any and all of the other nominations in this thread. Again, if you take the few moments to look at how any of the other nominations are presented, you'll see exactly what I mean. (click on anyone's full-size link to see what the result looks like). It's simple and it needs to be uniform for all nominations. - if not, then your nomination(s) won't be eligible. (that's a simple rule too).

The Flickr link includes a full-size version? lol...since Flug is practicing his 'King of Crypticism' role , here's the easy way to provide what he's asking for. Click on the link to the original size in Flickr. Right click while hovering over the photo and choose properties. Copy the link in the address description and paste it into your post as a URL (make sure you use the insert hyperlink code to avoid a whipping by King Flug )

I don't really see how I was being cryptic. I was pretty darn clear in describing the desired result, and I gave a suggested solution of copying how other people present their nomination. - if that's being "cryptic", then I guess I'm guilty. I was the one who was being descriptive. The post that you quoted from the other guy was short and cryptic, in my opinion. But thanks for the specific how-to of doing it in Flickr. I'm a google-albums guy. - either way, the result should look the same.

kaleetan_bow_wave by srosenow_98, on Flickr My submission, of my most favorite ferry. Will be submitting two more once I locate suitable candidates. Thank you for your submission. While the photo that is displayed on this thread is correct, the link to the full size image is not. The link below the photo should be farm6.static.flickr.com/5115/5904275532_d7df6acbb6_b.jpg. This gives staff quick access to the header sized photo without the need of clicking through multiple pages. For the link, Full-size: COPY LARGE PHOTO URL HERE works well for our purposes. I will leave it up to you to modify your post. However, if you have any difficulties, let me know and I will modify it for you.

( FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT) I guess the quoted post was much less cryptic to me as I know some of Flickr's 'secrets'.

Post edited, although I'm a bit mystified at how the original way I had posted it would've gone against that, as per Flickr TOS and Community Guidelines specifically state you cannot leave a direct link to an image without linking back to the photo's main page.

Post edited, although I'm a bit mystified at how the original way I had posted it would've gone against that This is the first time that this issue has come up for someone, in the 3 or 4 years that we've been doing this. I wonder what our other Flickr users think about the issue ? just curious. I look forward to seeing your other nominations. I was going to say "...of the Kaleetan", but I know that you've photographed more than just 1 ship. So I look forward to seeing what else you come up with for this category. ---------- Again, the main point is that everyone needs to post the nomination photos in a uniform way. We've been doing it that way every month for the past few years, and it makes the moderators' job much easier.

My opinion: They're my photos, so I'll do what I want with them, how I want to do it. That's fine, except when it comes to submitting nominations for the Forum Flagship contest. There are reasons we have rules regarding sizing and how we want the nominations submitted. For the size, it needs to fit the banner dimensions, and the reason for providing a direct link to the image is so we can cut and paste the winning entries into our Photobucket account, which is where we link to the forum graphics.

No, I mean regarding Flickr's 'regulations'. The photos belong to me, so Flickr shouldn't be regulating the format that I post them in. If it were someone else posting them, yes, I'd rather they link to the main page for the picture, but when I myself post my own pictures, I should retain all rights.
