Gahhh the thread merging is the destruction of natural conversation which is behind a lot of what makes discussion forums so great. But alas, neither here nor there. But seriously if things continue to be so heavily moved this should just become a standardized board with locked discussion areas with specified discussions. Well, that all depends on the situation. If we're combining 2 similar threads which were 2 or 3 years apart, then it makes sense to combine both so that you can easily see the history of the overall topic. I agree that merging 2 or 3 ongoing-discussions is cumbersome, but it's also cumbersome to have similar multiple-discussions ongoing. More often than not, it's the first example that happens, and I don't think it's a conversation killer, because the original conversation was paused usually 2 or 3 years ago. So its' a good way to resume a discussion. But yeah, diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.

Someone posted a photo (on our WCFF FaceBook page) of the Bowen Queen with a red-stripe painted on. - current photo from Vancouver Dry Dock. Does anyone know anything more about whether this is evidence of a livery change?

Does anyone know anything more about whether this is evidence of a livery change? I have heard nothing in the way of a livery change. I would suspect that the stripe is not new, but rather they are in the final stages of prep work for painting, and that is the OLD stripe from 2003 poking through.

This was a photo that our good friend Coastal Skier had posted, who had been at Lonsdale Quay when the Bowen Queen was lifted into the drydock. The photo is off of his iPhone. The Expo is exposed, alas not a change of livery, the slugs remain.

Ah yes, it's the things I see on my daily lunchtime walk out on the pier.
I took that photo yesterday on my iPhone. I was going to get a better photo of Bowen Queen in the sun, but alas, they put tarps around all the openings, so they've started to re-slug her...

Purchased this 1955 Canadian Red Ensign in Seattle, I believe it would have been used on a Canadian Merchant Vessel

Rumour has it that the Right Hounourable Stephen Harper, Canada's current Prime Minister, wants to reinstate the 'Red Ensign' as Canada's flag to assist in moving us back closer to 'Mother England' and undoing anything that the dreaded Liberal Party has done (such as bringing in the Maple Leaf flag).

Having a friend who works in the Prime Minister's Office, I can say with much respect to you my friend, that you're out of your mind. I think you have an unfortunate inability to sort out the literal from the tongue in cheek, and an unfortunate tendency to try to impress us with who you claim to know.

Hoist the Skull and Cross Bones! Hoist the skull and cross-bones? Having a friend who works with the RCMP, I can say with all due respect that you are out of your mind. The authorities frown upon piracy in our local waters. Piracy will net you a visit with the magistrate and then a trip to a federal institution.

Avast there m'lads, Flugel's ship is on the starboard quarter, ready the cannon and hoist the m'sails! Arryyrrrrr!! You'd want to lower your mainsails if his ship was on your starboard Quarter. Then you want to man the cannons and wait til he's passing you, then BOOM. He's down.

Got a couple of choices for ya if you want to go the pirate route. Which one do you want to be - Lady Washington (on the right), or Hawaiian Chieftan (on the left)? ;D

When the Ministry-of-Highways salt-water fleet was transferred to BCFerries in 1985, did they all go straight to expo-livery, or were any of the ships redone in pastel-blue livery?
I assume that the fleet transfer coincided with the BCFerries livery change, but perhaps a few of the old yellow&black were changed to pastel blue?
