Your like me Grahame, I like to get as close as possible to get those great shots. I just wished I had a digital camera so I could post them, but I still got a 35mm and storing the pictures the old fashioned way, Photo Albums. ah who knows maybe by the time the Super "C'S" arrive I may have gone digital. For peoples info I went for a walk to Descanso Bay regional park yesturday, about a 20 minute walk from the ferry. It is a campsite and day use park with great views from the shore of the Duke Point and Departure Bay ferries. Also you can watch the Quinsam sail back and forth. You can walk, bike or drive into the campsite and camp if you want, $15.00 a nite plus taxes. I did see the Hovercraft leave Nanaimo as I was walking up to the bus stop after I got off the ferry. It was just rounding Gallows point outbound.

Here is the link to the Descanso Bay Campground including some pictures. www.rdn.bc.ca/cams.asp?wpID=543 I think it would be neat to spend a few days hear. You would be able to watch the ferries at all times of the day. Also of note that The campsite is only a short 1/2 hour or so walk to the Malaspina Galleries and Gabriola Sands Provincial park which has nice sandy beaches perfect for swimming. I remember watching the Queen of Alberni late at nite from NewCastle ISland when I was there last.

The cafeteria seems slightly different to me in this picture: www.ferrypicsbygraham.fotopic.net/p30827699.htmlAfter looking at this picture, it's pretty gut wrenching how easy with the flip of the wrong switch, how fast everything can go south on you. Notice the sign that says, " Warning! Power Supply to Auto Pilot Inside, Do Not Turn Off. Steering Loss Will Occur" www.ferrypicsbygraham.fotopic.net/p30827690.htmlBut as always, great photos, Graham! I can't wait to see the rest of them to pick through the differences between Oak Bay and Surrey now!

re Queen of Surrey bridge.
Long gone is the radar I remember looking through as a kid when I was up there on a tour.
The Radar had a black piece that you looked through.
I just returned from the French Creak Marina, watching the ms Zuiderdam, Radiance of the Seas and Diamond Princess pass. What a awesome evening for cruise ship watching!

yeah no kidding eh. I was down at Ogden Point and saw the Norwegian Star, Sun Princess and Westerdam! Took some photos from out on the causeway as all three ships dock stern too so you get good bow views from the end of the causeway!

The cafeteria area does look different in how some of the machines (Ice CReam, Iced Cappaciono are laid out differently I think)
