Well done, Sean !
Thanks for all those great shots of Kwuna, especially the ones where it shows her ramps at Alliford Bay.
Also, I liked the car-deck of QPR, showing the neat-looking platform-deck on the side.

Thanks for all of the photos, Sean! Nice job. I have to laugh when I see that collectors series of the "Surrey". Really it's Oak Bay for two reasons. Sharper edges on the funnel, and less of a black top on it as well. Also, if you look at Evergreenfleets extreme closeup of that same photo, you can nearly make out the name "Queen of Oak Bay", on the #1 end (left side of the photo. See for yourselves... www.evergreenfleet.com/qosur_01.jpg(P.S...you have to view the picture in the largest size possible to see what I'm talking about with the name...)

Interesting. I see they covered those open spaces on the Howe Sound Queen.

Ya, I noticed that too. I wonder why they would do that?

I think I've missed soemthing - what has changed? The Howe Sound Queen has looked like that for some time hasn't it? I could have not noticed what change you're speaking too.

Ah, now I see what you mean....
That would be because of the Zodiak being deployed right beside those windows. In case of a car deck fire, you wouldn't want Zodiak to catch on fire!

It has been like that for a couple years now. I first took her in 2004 and she was like that.

I took her in 2002 I think, and she was her old - erm - non-zodiak protective self.

question for Tsawwassen-Terminal, re recent pictures of his cousin, "Langdale Terminal":
- Graham: on the pictures that are taken on/of the Q-Esquimalt at Berth-2 at Langdale, why was the Esquimalt loading at the single-ramped berth#2 that day?
Does that mean that she was only carrying vehicles on her main car deck for that crossing?
Does that mean that Berth#1 was broken-down that day?
just wondering......
ps: I think your cousin is cute.......Langdale-Terminal sure is a beautiful spot to look at, from many angles. Choose your backdrop: - coast mountains. - narrow ocean-opening between Keats Isl & Gibsons - Gambier Island.

Langdale is a nice place. Another thing is I know exactly where the Webcam is I was also wondering how you got up there when the Esq was in Berth 2. You didn't sneak on did you?

Does that mean that she was only carrying vehicles on her main car deck for that crossing? Does that mean that Berth#1 was broken-down that day? just wondering...... I'm happy that someone noticed. In fact this was a result of my careful trip planning; on trips such as this, particularly during the busier seasons, I utilize systems that I've developed to choose the best sailings. In this case, my original goal was to catch the rare sight of the Queen of Vancouver at Horseshoe Bay, but that plan was thwarted after I first noticed no Oaky at Deas, and then noticed the Oaky leaving Horseshoe Bay, on-time, as I approached via the Upper Levels Highway (this was on Friday when the service notice came up about the Oaky needing work done). After catching a 5am bus to get there in the first place, I wasn't going to waste the day, so I decided to instead take a trip that I've been meaning to make for a while, to my parents' old home of Gibson's (where Black Ball vessels called at once). This worked quite well with my trip planning system: In this case the technique was catching the first sailing of and 'extra' vessel on a busy run at a busy time. This works particularly well on route 3 from Langdale on a Friday afternoon because of how late the 'regular' vessel runs, and often does. The basic idea is that if the main vessel on a run is late, the first sailing of an extra vessel will most likely be on-time, and therefore the extra vessel will end up being far less crowded than the primary vessel. I was only expecting to see the Queen of Esquimalt pull around from the secondary, single-ramped southern berth at Langdale to the main berth, but was pleasantly surprised when I heard that the crew was running late enough to warrant loading at the single-ramped berth instead of taking time to bring the ship around to the other berth. Indeed, they didn't load the upper deck, as they had no means to (no articulating ramps on the Esquimalt as there are on C Class vessels), which gave me a great opportunity to document the upper vehicle deck of the soon-to-be retired classic V Class vessel.

(Including what I wonder might be CP's BCCSS' former Nanaimo termianl) Cheers.
It is a former CPR slip, but it is the E&N Railway/Seaspan Coastal Intermodal barge slip in Nanaimo.
If this was a barge slip, then where was the primary BCCSS terminal in Nanaimo?

I do not own a scanner for my computer, but have decided to bite the bullet anyway and attempt to use the macro-lens setting on my camera to try and achieve as close to the same result as possible. My first attemp is with a couple BC Ferries schedules, from 1967 and 1974, that were generously donated by hornbyguy: www.ferrypicsbygraham.fotopic.net/c1008019.htmlP.S. I've added more pictures of Tsawwassen terminal aswell: www.ferrypicsbygraham.fotopic.net/c945305.html

If this was a barge slip, then where was the primary BCCSS terminal in Nanaimo? Sorry, got it confused with the Wellcox Barge Slip.
