I just got a new camera too. A Panasonic Lumix with a 12x zoom. I am really liking it. Alot better than my old camera with a crappy zoom.

When I was at the coast a week ago I managed to get some photos of her. I think she will start to look better as they keep welding more of the steel on the car deck. Thanks for posting those!

Wow, nice shots pscurr. I was on the Alberni for the 5:45pm sailing today from Tsawwassen but the sailing wasn't too bad since we had the wind to our backs. Just some bobbling side to side when leaving berth.

Mr. P. S. Curr:
You were at Galiano today, at 4:45pm. Do you have a travel story to tell?
How was your Galiano weekend??

Other than the rocky ride down the Gulf on Friday night from Duke Point and the sideways docking of the Vancouver at Tsawwassen, it was just another day on BC Ferries. Talked to a couple of the deckhands on the Naniamo Saturday evening en route to Galiano and they said they were surprised it came back over on Friday night. On the return trip at 12:30 or so they said they were only doing 5 knots across the strait. Did not get home until 3:30 am... long day for the crew. Tonight return from Galiano it was quite calm until the terminal and 10 minutes out a bit bumpy. The photo I missed this evening was the Vancouver, the Naniamo & the Cumberland at Sturdies Bay. If I was at Bellhouse Park rather than at the terminal it would have been a good shot. oh well next time.

check the above photos. The Vancouver needed to spin on the dolphin to enter Berth 3 Tsawwassen Terminal Friday night. Needless to say she did not glide into the dolphin gently! Never been on vessel that slammed into the dolphin and at right angles to the berth. After several attempts she was able to revolve on the dolphin and enter the berth.

Coming up alongside the berth, perpendicular to the normal docking position. Then using a dolphin as a fulcrum and then turning slowly into the berth.

I saw that happen one trip during a big windstorm while waiting at Tsawwassen I saw the SOBC come in and was sideways across all three berths trying to dock. They later cancelled the sailings and we ended up on the Coquitlam to Duke Point!

Karl, great head on shot. Sometimes the best light is not always in the sunshine. What lens are you using. On another note for 30 years from know , do we know if the remnants of the side ramps are visible on the Mayne Queen?

I just bought a new camera like a week or ago so I have been taking lots of photos lately. It is a Panasonic Lumix with a 12X optical zoom. I have wanted to get a camera with a good zoom for a while now so it has been great! I cant really tell if the remnants of the side ramps are visible on the Mayne Queen. I havent been on the Mayne Queen since September.

Another challenge for all the photographers on the forum. While you are out and about shooting the various ships of the fleet...A project. Either on board or at the dock photograph found letters... ( shapes, parts off, sections that look like letters) With everybody on the lookout we should be able to post a BC Ferries Alphabet. Here are a couple of examples to start the project off. Q W H

It looks like the Klitsa has gotten a nice paint job! Are they preparing her for some sort of service?!

I hope they are working diligently on the QPR. I think they will need her sooner than April 1st.

I hope they are working diligently on the QPR. I think they will need her sooner than April 1st. Is that just a hunch? I assume that the NorAd's latest oil change was successful, and that the contaminated-oil problem won't be repeated in the next few months....
