Thanks to Blackshadow and Ferryrider for the photos! Very much appreciated.
But, Wow! The Klitsa has sure been spiffed up. The yellow paint is painted over with bright white paint now, on the car deck walls. It seems like the Klitsa is the only K-Class that gets all of these nice vacations. The working mules, Kahloke and Kwuna rarely get any time off. In fact, I can't remember the last time the Kahloke was taken to a shipyard.

The Klitsa Probably going to be a Relief Vessel for her sisters Now Minus the Kwuna, So She has to look nice as she isn't used as much...Similar to the Bowen Queen in a way. Probably could Allow the Kahloke to Go For a Refit.

I took this picture. At first I was going to delete it but when I loaded it to my computer it wasn't that bad.

Looks like the Queen of Oak Bay, alright. Great photo. I'm kicking myself as to the location of where you took that photo from. My guess is either Whytecliff Park or Passage Island.

Here are some pictures which pertain to past and ongoing discussions within a variety of threads on this forum. .
Thanks for what I assume to be "insider" pictures. Much appreciated.

Thanks for the photos, nizx! I find it interesting that the Esquimalt finally had her rubbing strake repaired. Seems a bit too late though?

re-the klitsa, what routes would we really expect her to be a relief on? route 20, yah but any other ones? all i can think of would be routes 5, 6 and 24 and thats if the bowen queen or tachek aren't around.

I would think that it could be used on routes 19, 20, 21 and 22 but unlikely to be used on route 19 since the Bowen Queen is the typical replacement vessel when the Quinsam is out for servicing. Those low tide circumstances in winter don't help the Bowen Queen as a replacement vessel though, but those are extrememly rare times when that happens. The Kahloke is currently servicing route 21 and that's a significant downsize but the Klitsa can do it if necessary, but doubtful since it's slightly smaller than the Kahloke which is tough enough for capacity on that route. It's still an outside option if it comes to those situations.

A few photos from my little trip Saturday afternoon. 3pm Saanich to Tsawwassen, 7pm SOBC back to Swartz Bay. Queen of Saanich departing Tsawwassen Terminal filling in for the SOVI Queen of Alberni arriving at Tsawwassen In between sailings they did a fire drill on the Alberni. I watched from lower level berth 3 and could hear crew announcements and alarms going off. Now this a neat comparison having the SOVI and Vancouver right next to each other. SOVI in berth 3 and Vancouver in berth 2 Queen of Vancouver

not a bad photo! Like the repetition of shapes from the ferry to the mountain.

I completely agree with you, Ferrynutseattle. Thanks for posting that photo, kiernan. Not only is it have a lot of interest for me because it's a Howe Sound shot, but my Grandfather's brother used to live on that little island off the end of Hood Point, called Finisterre Island. It's on the inside of the corner where the Langdale ferry rounds Bowen Island. It's accessible at low tide but an island at high tide. There's a tunnel bored out on it as the walking access up to the house. Pretty neat spot to live, but quite high maintenance whenever any work needs to be done on the property.

It's a Very Nice Photo Scenery-Wise. The Capilano looks a bit off but otherwise great photo. ...You can get away with Saying Crap?? Isn't it supposed to come out "Scrap"??

I was a little bored on Friday, so I went down to Swartz Bay to get some photos and to test out my new lens. These were taken from the Piers Island dock. Skeena Queen arriving - heading to berth 2 Another shot of the Skeena Queen of Cumberland departing berth 4 I noticed that the life rafts are gone from the SOVI, presumably for servicing as this is her refit. A late Queen of Saanich pulling in for the 3:00 sailing Another shot of the Saanich I know they aren't fantastic, I am still playing with the lens.

In my opinion, Ferry photos aren't always just about the ferry in the picture, another important aspect to a great ferry photo is scenery, and your photo has lots of scenery which is why it is such a nice photo.

Good photos Nick. That Piers Island dock is a good spot to see the ships arrive. I just recently started going there for photos of the ships arriving. Another spot is along Lands End Road just by Sylvan Place there is a clearing that you can get some good photos of the Spirits as they pass by Peirs Island.
I am jelous cause the owner of our hanger complex at the airport lives on Piers Island and he takes his boat over every day and they can see Swartz Bay from their place on Piers Island. It would be interesting to visit Piers Island.

I didn't know about that spot at Sylvan Place. I'll have to check it out next time. I thought about going to look for another vantage point while I waited for the Saanich, but I also didn't know how late she was so I didn't know how much time I had to look. Thanks for the tip.
