Queen of Capilano So, just how many aerials does one ship need? Let's see: VHF radio, common fleet radio, AIS transponder, GPS receiver, a second of each for the other end of the ship, what else? (Vertical aerials, not radar antennas)

Retro: re your Queen of Tsawwassen shot-
Don't think I've ever seen a functioning ferry look more out of service. The power lines, the walkway, what looks like vines growing up the side, the harsh light- you composed a masterful shot there, although if the poor old 'Tsawwassen has a spirit, she won't be happy with you. But hey, it's the artist's burden to show us what we don't necessarily want to see...

Thanks for that, Neil; I always try to carry that burden with as little sugar coating as possible. - On a related note, those who looked through that last set of mine might have noticed that several images were unavailable or taking so long to load that they might as well have been, as did I. I inquired with the host and this reply was given... So please feel free now to go back to view any images that you wanted to before and couldn't. www.ferrypicsbygraham.fotopic.net/c1247705_264.html

Graham, Was there anyone at the gravel yard to stop you from entering or to "let you roam"? I've sometimes considered mustering up the courage to find someone there and ask permission to "trespass"

Two quick pictures, following on my NorAd self-distruct button picture, I found another interesting photo. The CSI Locker on the Alberni: the more serious one is one that many people I have shown thought was nice

Great photos everyone. Oddly enough I think I saw you passing overhead on Thursday, Karl, when I was in the capital. thanks for all the photos , what a great collection. I have been looking for the flag raising photo for quite awhile, thanks for sharing. I hope the flag pole/mast will be preserved from the Sidney. From what I understand from the owners, it has been spoken for. thanks again.

Thanks for the clarification, denelson. This was my first guess - if only for the mix of old (anchor gear) and new (Ro/Ro vessel) in such an early image - though I didn't want to be too presumptuous. Let alone from the ancient looking truck and berth structure I can now see that this image, taken in 1962, is from the first year of BC Ferries owned Gulf Island Ferry service.
