Question: uhh why would the Wack ever be at horseshoe bay When Ferries go into or return from refit they often dock at Horseshoe Bay or another of the major ferry terminals for a short amount of time. The only time I've ever seen something like this is when the QQII was at Horseshoe Bay in December of 2004.

That is interesting how they use HB as a stopover. I didn't think there would be enough room for an extra ferry to stay there and I would think Nanaimo is closer to wherever they are going. How often do refits stop in HB?

I guess I should have added that info to my post, lol It was definitely not in revenue service. I assumed it was returning from annual refit - unfortunately my batteries died before I could take anymore shots but as we boarded the next sailing back to the Island I noticed a couple of carts loaded with chairs and boxes (supplies?) being brought aboard. I wish I had more time to snoop around that day as I was really tripped out by the fact it was sitting there and not docked at Departure Bay or Tsawwassen like we usually see post-refit.

Nothing intended, but sort of as a rule, we realize that such ships wouldn't be in service if they were docking at HSB (Horseshoe Bay), islandboy.

I have had visions that when the Quinsam comes back she would look like the Skeena Queen, Enlarged with Public access to the rooftops of the lounges just like the Skeena.
Yeh I know wishful Thinking.

I mentioned in another thread that the Queen of Cowichan is out and about in Juan De Fuca strait. I took these photos like 10 mins ago as she passed by my place. This is the view I got As of now she is out of sight farther to the west closer to race rocks. Siitech says she was only going about 2.2 knots when she was out by our place.

Looks like they've made her nice and purdy looking now. This reminds me of the sea trails the Queen of Coquitlam did one month ago up Howe Sound to where I was working near the water in Britannia Beach.

It helps to have a camera with a good zoom so I dident have to drive down to the beach to get some decent shots. I have seen a few other ferries out there through the years. I remember the Burnaby was out there once years ago.

Well shes back in departure bay now. Why do ferries go out there though?

Most likely for sea trials after refit in an Esquimalt drydock.

Very excellent photos. That might be the hardest thing of all to get used to... seeing a double-ended ship inside of Active Pass feels absolutely incongruous for some strange reason.
