Tonight I've got some photos to post from my friend, excapg2. First off: The Nimpkish sitting with her older sister, the Garibaldi II at Woodfibre in 2004. The GII had just returned from a refit (her last refit), and the Nimpkish was waiting to be returned to BC Ferries since she was running place of the GII. Next one is of the Nicola, sitting at the Harbour Cruises dock in Squamish Harbour right after excapg2 professionally maneuvered her into there. Again, the Nicola had just been running in place of the GII during a refit. Right after that, he got to sail her to Deas. The last one is seen from excapg2's cabin porthole aboard the Haida Chieftan on Hecate Strait in July of 2006.

Those are very neat shots, Chris... that QPR one really has a very good visual effect and a great feel and it seems like there's a real story to it. (tell him to enter it in the flagship contest.)

The Nimpkish sitting with her older sister, the Garibaldi II at Woodfibre in 2004. The Garibaldi II reminds me of the Quillayute, re her shape. I think it's because of the extended length of the G2's pax accomodation on Deck-3. Not a perfect match, but close enough for my brain to make the connection. see Q-boat here, on SP's website: www.evergreenfleet.com/quillayute.html

Awesome photos everyone! Here's a few from my trip home from the Island yesterday afternoon. Dramatic arrival at Horseshoe Bay in a snowstorm.

Nice photos Chris, especially the snowstorm. That must have been a fun drive home. Anyway here is part two of my photos from my recent trip. I came home today on the 11 AM from Swartz Bay and saw quite an array of ferries, and it wasn't raining outside so that is always a plus. The CC was firing up her engines for the 12. We were following the Mayne Queen and passing the SOBC. The next bunch are us passing SOBC in the pass. The Mayne Queen waited for us to pass. Passing the Nanaimo. Finally an overview of Tsawwassen. Enjoy!

That doesn't happen very often the CR and her sister CI on the route let alone in the same area.

Hey everyone, I just need some advice. I finally updated my 12 year old computer system with an up to date version with printer/scanner etc. I came across some ferry photos from the early '80's and am eager to post them. I've already scanned the images into a document file in my computer, but how do I attach them to a posting on this site? (so the pic appears in the posting, not as a link) I want everyone to share in the nostalgia! (Copying and pasting doesn't seem to work) And my apologies since this topic isn't directly related to this string.

OK here's my first attempt at scanning, then uploading, then posting a photo. If it works there'll be more to follow. It's the Queen of Cowichan on route2 in the summer of 1981

WOW!! Now THAT is RETRO. I remember those seats on the Coquitlam, but they changed the upholstery on them from the brown to the red and green colours that you see on the Queen of Vancouver. Those seats were the best on one of those late night sailings, and you wanted to have a nap without sleeping on the dirty floor.
The fact that this photo is from the Cowichan, it makes it even better.
Thanks for the memories ferryfanyvr.
Cheers
