I like to confuse. The bay by the mill at Chemainus is called Horseshoe Bay. Luke has disappointed me by not taking the bait. Hmm? whaa...? What did I say? I haven't posted on this here thread for a long time, and suddenly my name pops up?? Where do I come in? Some clarifications: - I consider a person's entire body of posts, when making wide-sweeping comments like I did above. And Luke's given us 475 posts to see what things might normally trip him up. Patterns are fun to observe, all in fun. ;D - If you observe the patterns in my 6,000 posts, you'll see that I like to use obscure names and references instead of current and obvious names and descriptions. The Horseshoe Bay in Chemainus oddity is a favourite of mine. I'll also mix pop-culture references into some names, for fun. Usually I'll aim this at the baby-boomer and Gen-X crowd, much like Mike Meyers aimed his Wayne's World references at the same crowd.... ;D It also helps that I'm a silly freak (that's the key to understanding, young Jedi) . ------------ And now the Chemainus reference: from: www.muraltown.com/

Today was a very 'Coquitlammy' day for me. I took the ferry to Bowen Island, and got loads of photos, too many to post here. Here's a few of the best, and here's a link to my flickr gallery, which will have all the rest of the photos, as well as others: www.flickr.com/photos/43662637@N04/Queen of Surrey at HSB The Coastal Runner at Snug Cove Queen of Coquitlam nearing Horseshoe Bay. Here's a photo that I posted somewhere a while back, showing me and my mother up there, probably around 1966. The trees were so much smaller then, and there was a sweeping panoramic view, unimpeded, from Vancouver Island around to Vancouver, past Horseshoe Bay, a fair way up Howe Sound, with a bit of Snug Cove as well. Nowadays, there are limited view corridors through the trees. Sometimes nature gets in the way.

Neil, are you holding some ferry-schedules behind your back? Or would those have already been put into an envelope and placed inside your mom's purse?

Her purse was just for carrying around my schedules and brochures. She wasn't allowed to have any of her own stuff in there. I thought this was kind of a nice black and white newspaper photo...

Thanks for the pics Kam. The rescue craft on the Millbay is almost as big as the ferry. ;D

Not sure which members might have seen this: (Caution: Extensive use of the word f--k in music.)
Not sure which ferry it is other than it;s the Renaissance, or her sister.

Not sure which ferry it is other than it;s the Renaissance, or her sister. They're on either the Cowichan or Coquitlam. I'm not sure which one, but there's one frame where one of the "Furries" is at the back of the vessel, on the sun deck, and you can clearly see a pickle fork behind him.

That was a C Class vessel, either the Cowichan or the Coquitlam.

re Furries on Ferries:
- there were 2 other videos on Youtube, but they didn't have the crude music. Same characters, but on the inside of the ferry.
I've got a friend who's a "Furry". We joke about whether it's easier explaining that someone's interested in Ferries or Furries. But get funny looks.

Watched the vid again and the music is now "Anchors Away" by the US Navy. Hey, with a name like Fargowolf and with the alleged sudden change in video music after yesterday's comments, it makes a lot of sense that you're a furry. Do your furry friends label you as the "Ferry-Furry"?

Do your furry friends label you as the "Ferry-Furry"? You know... I've never looked at it that way. I always thought I was a Ferry-fur. ;D No one has labeled me as such, despite the fact that I did spend six months working on the Shaftesbury Ferry in northern Alberta. Mind you, not many know I'm on here anyway. As for the change of music, that was a result of me giving a heads up in regards to the vid and included Niel's comment. He redid it because "it put furries in a bad light" I just hope you guys don't hate me now that you know I am one....

Nice shots! I like that 2nd one of the New West. That last picture on the... (what is that thing, a mug?) sure is an oldie. Correct me if I'm wrong, WSF board regulars, but was the Hyak the only Super that had the unusually high stripe?

Yep, Hyak was the only Super to get the high paint stripe, and I don't think that lasted too long. EGfleet can tell you for sure. That's a great mug!

I've seen one photo of her with the newly arrived Kaleetan (late December 1967) but by the time the Yakima arrived in March of '68 the high stripe appears to be gone. So just a very short time. ( Hyak arrived in summer of 67.) Being the biggest, newest ferry on Puget Sound it seems there were a lot of photos taken of her in those early months as it isn't hard to find postcards of her with that high paint line.
