Coastal Celebration in the Strait of Georgia, today. If you look closely through the side holes you can see the cars are actually loaded backwards?

Coastal Celebration arriving at Tsawwassen, today. For some reason it spun in a full circle before arriving at Tsawwassen, I don't know why.
I saw the same thing earlier in September and have photo evidence. All is still not right with this vessel.

Coastal Celebration arriving at Swartz Bay from Public Water Access at end Dolphin Road, I glad I am found this area. I am posting because she has recently been repainted and there is no photos of her new paint job. Coastal Celebration by Blue Bus Fan, on Flickr

I hope BC Ferries fixes or removes wraps from Coastal Class because they don’t look the hold up to every day use.

Why don’t just keep the Coastal Inspiration on route 1 until the Coastal Celebration is fully fixed? I wonder what caused temporary routing this time for Coastal Celebration.

Not really sure, their statement: “While the vessel is safe to operate, we are taking action as a precautionary safety measure to guard against the unlikely event of a propulsion failure in the confined waters of Active Pass,” the corporation said in a statement. “B.C. Ferries knows customers’ time is valuable and apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.”

I still think the best option is do no vessel swap until the Coastal are truly fixed.

That seems like a tall order, and I’m guessing will necessitate time in the dry dock for all three prior to next May?

Here is the release/service advisory text for the sake of history:
Issued on: October 26 at 3:20 pm
Coastal Celebration Tsawwassen – Swartz Bay Temporary Change to Route October 29 – November 26, 2023
The Coastal Celebration will not sail through Active Pass while servicing the Vancouver (Tsawwassen) – Victoria (Swartz Bay) route from October 29 to November 26. Instead, the vessel will sail south of the area, via East Point, adding about 15 minutes to the voyage.
The Coastal Celebration is currently one of the extra vessels sailing on this route. The other vessels that provide the odd-houred sailings, will continue to sail as usual between 7:00 am and 9:00 pm.

I have two reservations affected by this, and got emails from both of them.
Surprisingly, I've never actually been able to get on this reroute before. Excited to see it.

I don’t think a dry dock is required because they manage to get drive motors out Coastal Renaissance out a Departure Bay while she was in the water. I wonder how Coastal Class handle when Spirits are taken out of annual refit where they go through active pass or while a Cowichan Class make super rare appearances on route 1 next year or where all sailing not go through active pass.

I am fairly sure that we are talking about all six drive motors on the Coastal class, all changed out before next summer (they have eight months). Indeed, a tall order and at a tall cost no doubt. I don't think the new builds coming should be more Coastals, at least without major changes from the existing ones.

Just wanting to point out based on both the service notice and the news article state that it's the rotors inside the drive motor assembly that need to be replaced. The entire drive motor assembly doesn't need to be replaced on all vessels.

I think BC Ferries could find another manufacturer of drive motors for next generation Coastals.

This is quite interesting! What is its new route? Around Saturna? I am at my cabin on Saturna Island right now and the Coastal celebration has been going around Saturna by East Point all day today like normal (normal for when they dont go through Active Pass). This alternate route is also used from time to time for ferries not in service heading back to Tsawwassen or Deas (FMU) for refits and stuff.
