I've found some photos on Flickr, of the Renaissance trying out Berth 3, at Departure Bay. I'm looking closer at one of the photos, where it shows the skywalk in the picture. Hopefully the skywalk will be able to line up with the railings. It's sort of making me wonder, from that angle. :-\ www.flickr.com/photos/22354128@N06/sets/72157603707779319/

Yeah it is probably the angle - hoping. I think the walk raised so high as well makes it look funny from below. I would have thought they would have tested that when the CR was coming and going? Maybe they did and that guy wasn't there to take a pic. On a side note the pic from the Airie Resort is stunning. I used to drive my grandmother up there but the road sort of made her queasy. I am not sure it was really that or she didn't want me spending a lot of money taking her to the restaurant there. I would always try and treat her somewhere nice besides the usual run to Swiss Chalet in Victoria and White Spot.

Looks like the part containers have been taken off the upper car deck. Which brings up a good question to our friend in Germany: Are these going to be put on a stack train and railed across to the east coast for shipping back to Germany for placement aboard the MV COASTAL CELEBRATION? The containers will be shipped back and used for the third ship - they would arrive too late for the second.

Hi all, Photos from today's arrival into Vancouver. I crossed the Lion's Gate while she was under it, however was driving so couldn't stop for photos. Then went down to Canada Place and caught her arriving, timing worked out well. Here are some pictures and commentary. I hope these photos are the right size!Just as she was approaching Canada Place. They actually went pretty fast through Burrard Inlet compared to a lot of other traffic, she's the newCorvette of the fleet I suppose. Anyways it looker terrific. As she pulled up there was a distictive churning sound. I theorize it is from the props being slightly above the water line while unloaded. Sounds very cool, it's not overbearing or annoying. Slowing her don as she approaches her spot along the pier. Also gives a view of the new Convention Centre which cost more than the three new ferries, I believe? More approach Quite the crowd. I am sad I didn't recognize the other ferry buffs, did meet up with Jordon by accident. There was a large John Deere truck convention going on, and photogrpahers snapping shots of the fire bombing plane, the largest operting float plane in the world there which lead to a large contigent of male large-operating-equipment lovers being there! I love the bridge. Some paint chips on the side of the vessel... I am concerned that if more paint falls and an Otter eatsit it might die. I have contacted David Hahn and Global Media about my concerns, they might do a double feature of that with the high step; how news worthy. Cheers!

Great photos, Dane! The size is fine on my screen. There is a 'Truck Loggers Convention' going on right now, and that's why the Mars Bomber Plane is there. It's performing demonstrations on each day of the convention with the last time being tomorrow around noon. You're bang on when you say that they like their large operating equipment! I think I can take care some Lions Gate photos for you and others: Approaching First narrows Under Lions Gate Into Burrard Inlet More here

That's plastic 3M appliqué, remember? And what's a "high step?"

How much lower in the water will she sit fully loaded? How much will that effect the performance?

fully loaden she will be down to the limit between the red hull painting and the black. Performance effect is close to zero. If there is one, performance will be better.

Beautiful, Spectacular, Or as BCF Would Put It, Awesome!
She looks great. Looks of a Modernized C Class, Interior Size of a Spirit. She's going to be one of the Best Ships in the Fleet.

Scott: can you comment on the "tripping" issues that the other member has raised?
Please enlighten us with your clear description of what the problem actually is.
Thanks.

There is black stairs that go down to the engine room from all passenger stairwells at the partial deck two level. I almost lost my footing on them, too. They are very slippery, and are in need of a textured surface for better a grip... There is also a drop of a significant height on the areas just outside of the stairwell doors on the upper vehicle deck. They must have forgot to paint the whole raised area in yellow, causing people not to notice its existance... Notice the area near the stairwell doors...
