Hey all. I was not very extravagant about taking pics yesterday. I may upload a few later if I have some that are largely unique. The crossing on the Cowichan was neat. So was driving up from Chilliwack in snow on Hwy 1. And the whole day just had such bizarre weather.
I wanna know why the shutter always seems to click at the wrong time, like right when I look like I'm gonna pass out, because I wish we could do some photoediting of me in the group pic from Ship-Rider 16.
Anyway, I had more than my fair share of mishaps yesterday... bumping into people, almost tripping on stairs, bonking heads with Chris. It's a wonder I survived the day.
The only thing i can suggest is that next time we get such a big group together, we wear nametags, or photobadges or personalized ferry forum T=shirts, or just get into two lines and walk past each other shaking hands and introducing ourselves like hockey-teams, because I like to know who I'm touring a ship with and some of you guys move pretty fast.

In Kam's Picture of the Dent Look under the "R" in British Columbia and you will notice a Door and Handrails. I noticed this on the Other side of the ship. This would come in handy when docking at a dock such as the assembly berth or at a shipyard when you do not want to open up the main Car deck doors.

That's the Queen of Esquimalt on her way into Duke Point, which is the ship the Coastal Renaissance is pushing out of the way. As she was coming into the harbour, alot of made tourist remarks like "Is that the new German ship over there?" "Is that a cruise ship?!". As I recall, there were a lot of sarcastic ferry-geeks saying the same thing on seeing the Queen of Esquimalt. We can't hold non-ferry-geeks at fault for their ignorance.

I think that's what Chris is saying... it was us who made the "tourist" remarks.

That door is where they put the plank. haven't you all heard about the CR high tech mischief handling device. They just push the drunks and trouble makers out the side. Seriously though it is probably so they could take on a pilot, or so people can get out of the lower car deck if the ships on fire or sinking. Of course if the Bow doors aren't open or the stairwell is on fire. Cheers,

That door was put there for the delivery trip so the pilot could board and exit the ship. My understanding that it would be welded shut after handed over to BC Ferries. I do not know if this has been done or if the idea of welding it shut have been changed.

Fantastic photos, everyone! She really is a great ship. Soon the media and BC Ferries aren't going to take any photos and they'll just purchase photos from forum members to use! ;D

What, no string of signal flags this time? I guess the CR thinks that Victoria is a bit too boring for her.
