Confirmed! The SPIRIT OF VI is nearing the Canary Islands. Another ship of interest is the MIDNATSOL. She carries cars as well. She normally does cruise/ferry trips in Norway and is currently doing extracurricular cruises at this time. The MIDNATSOL sports a two tier forward observatory with massive double level forward windows to look out of! Hope to get a ride aboard that ship someday.

The SPIRIT OF VANCOUVER ISLAND is now between Britain and France in the English Channel. Soon, she'll pass over trains at you know where.

At 0140PDT, the SPIRIT OF VANCOUVER ISLAND crossed over the Channel Tunnel and was deviating her course to pass around the stern of the British bound PRIDE OF KENT. Imagine what the passengers of that ferry were thinking about when seeing a BC ferry navigating in this area. "What is that doing here?" they may ask. We, here in the forum, know what our ship of interest in this thread is to undergo. Next position report is when she rounds the north end of Denmark.

The SPIRIT OF VANCOUVER ISLAND is nearing the Helsingborg ferry crossing. This cam might get a small image of the SOVI: www.port.helsingborg.se/allmanhet/just-nu-i-hamnen/webbkamera/It refreshes itself, but you may want to press F5 if desired. I'll post whatever image I can get from this Swedish cam. EDIT: She has passed by Helsingborg. Image below.

The SPIRIT OF VANCOUVER ISLAND has passed by Copenhagen and EKCH. These are views of her from the Oresund Bridge facing west. She went over the underwater tunnel portion of this route. I know most of you don't like small images of ships of interest. I just wanted to document this ship as she was passing Denmark. Here are three enlarged images on a nice sunny day in that area: Passing over the tunnel portion of this route. 0230PDT. Between the western pylons of the high rise portion of this route. 0236PDT. South of the pylons. 0240PDT. These will most likely be the last images captured of this ship until she arrives in Gdansk. We thank the operator of this cam for being a source of these images. Please visit their site at: www.oresundsbron.com/en/webcamWelcome to the Baltic Sea, MV SPIRIT OF VANCOUVER ISLAND!

I have some captures to share of her arrival into the tight confines of Gdansk's inner waterways. There is, however. a "C" on the image. I don't know if I can post these on this forum.
A moderator might help me decide on this one.
A brilliant arrival of this ship in fantastic weather!

Inspired by the predictable comments on our WCFF Facebook post, here are my comments here: Oh, I see she's getting the work done at Poland. That was because the refit was tendered, and Remontowa won the tender, correct? And I'm wondering if the reason why this project was sent to international tender, instead of just doing it in BC, is because BC Ferries is set up by a ferry contract with the Province whereby the ferry company has to find the lowest price, because its intended to be a self-sufficient company as much as possible? And I'm guessing that if I want the work done in BC to benefit the industry here, then that change in philosophy needs to come from the Provincial Government. Is that correct? OK, so if we want change in ferry policy, then we need to change the provincial government. What, you say that the government changed, but the policy didn't? Oh, nevermind then.
