Probably in January like every other year. SHe is out for a few weeks at the begining of December then again in Jan so I assume Jan they will be doing her annual refit.

It has been the practice of BCF's for many years to take both Spirits out one after the other between early January and the school 'Spring Break' in mid march. I believe that it has generally been the SoVI that goes first...

Then what is point of taking her out of service for three and a half weeks?

A video compilation of 2 clips of SoBC on November 12, 2012.
1) In the afternoon, leaving Active Pass at Helen Point. - seen from the Queen of Nanaimo, which was off of Village Bay.
2) In the dark evening at Tsawwassen's berth-5, as she left late on her scheduled 7:00pm Route-1 sailing.
both clips are sped-up, to make them easier to watch.

The platform decks are being deployed and presumably tested right now. It is the most excitement I can ask for at Tsawwassen on a mid-day Thursday. But seriously haven't these been out of service in revenue service for years? I assume some form of regular testing occurs? Or maybe lowered to gain access to the roof. So many trivial possibilities haha.

you would think so but not according to BC Ferries! Yep. What schedule are they on for schools breaks?

you would think so but not according to BC Ferries! Yep. What schedule are they on for schools breaks? Different school districts have different times for breaks, so the notion of planning ferry schedules around school schedules is almost impossible. BC Ferries will be operating on normal schedule for whatever time frame you're looking at.

SOBC is scheduled back in service March 27th which makes me happy! Bye Bye Renaissance! Back to full Buffet service, lol! According to the BCFS schedules & reservations page she is actually back in service on Friday, March 22nd, but only to do one round trip from Tsawwassen at noon. Same thing again on Sunday, the 24th. She does not go back into full service as the Tsawwassen based #1 vessel until Wednesday, the 27th. The school break here in SD #82 is two plus weeks starting this Friday and ending on the Tuesday after Easter. I expect business for BCFS rises significantly in the latter half of March as schools here, there & everywhere take one or two week breaks. I am not sure if BCFS's does a good job of anticipating demand during this time.

She must have been repainted during her refit. If only they could keep the Queen of Burnaby and the NIP looking that good!
