Looks like this was taken in berth 3. Also the dots between B and C have been removed in preperation for the transformation.

Spirit of British Columbia viewed in Active Pass from its sister, the Spirit of Vancouver Island - 2 June 2013. This photo is by Capt. Alex Loy, master, SoVI, & was taken from high up near the ship's funnel. Maybe they should add a ferry geeks' SeaWest photo perch up there. I might pay extra for that. photo © Capt A. Maybe they should add a ferry geeks' SeaWest photo perch up there. I might pay extra for that. Perhaps it would be safer to pay some money to have a member of the crew take a passenger's camera up to that point and take the photo on the passenger's behalf.

I was searching my computer and found an old trip report from 2006 when I went to Victoria on President's Day. I mentioned in the report that the SOBC entered service in 1993 ... which was 20 years ago. Do we know exactly when she entered service? I couldn't find anything in this thread.

According to the West Coast Ferries website, the SOBC entered service in mid-April 1993.

...and today I'll post this multi-ship video into this thread. ============
This is a long video compilation of approx. 10 different journeys through Active Pass by ferries. - taken from shore at Miners Bay, Mayne Island during the evening of July 14, 2013 and then from 6:15am to 12:45pm on July 15th.
Video is sped-up 2.5x, which allows you to hear and enjoy the various ship horns as they sound near/in the pass.
This video compilation includes multiple trips of the 4 Route-1 ships as well as the Route-5 ships, Route-9, and an appearance by Princess Superior. The ships appear in chronological order.
I've posted this into each of these ship's threads.
ps: this took 20 hours to upload to YouTube...

I mentioned in the report that the SOBC entered service in 1993 ... which was 20 years ago. Do we know exactly when she entered service? I couldn't find anything in this thread. I spotted a lapel pin today that bore a line drawing of the SoBC, and this legend: "Spirit of British Columbia/Commissioned March 5, 1993". I would guess the 'Commissioning' of a civilian ferry involves formal acceptance from a shipyard, hoisting the company flag, etc. before putting it into revenue service. Since the Inaugural Run was in April, now I definitely know the two events do not necessarily happen at the same time. (If anyone has access to microfilm of the Victoria or Vancouver daily newspapers, there might be a story about it when the IR did happen.)
Dogwood Fleet listed the pre-1966 ships' important dates when known (keel laying, launching and inaugural run) in the tables at the back of the book. I know some forum members have been to decommissionings (Queens of Vancouver, Prince Rupert and Tsawwassen). What exactly happened there?
