Here is a transit of Active Pass by the Spirit Sisters, shown in both real time (with real sound) and in a 10x sped-up version.
I like both effects.

This video from the morning of July 13, 2016 shows the two Spirits doing their first meet-up in Active Pass for the day. The video also shows the 4-ship convergence near Village Bay, and the Queen of Nanaimo headed toward Village Bay and then into the pass.
Lots of morning ferry activity that I captured here.

You may need to sit down for this SHOCKING update on the SoBC.
... are you sitting down? ....
There's been a five-bin recycling system set up at a couple spots on the boat sometime in the last six weeks or so. In all seriousness it is nice to see; I also know the Capital Regional District and BC Ferries have been in a protracted disagreement about BC Ferries recycling / compost practices which were out of line with Regional bylaw requirements.

Would imagine you're correct. None of the new recycling / compost found on the Celebration (at least the public areas, I know behind the scenes they've been doing it for years) tonight.

Warning Off Topic -
When I lived in Brandon, MB, which I wasn't fond of, being the subject of half the jokes on This is That made it somewhat more tolerable.

I'm glad the Capital Regional District made an issue out of recycling on the ferries. Now that that's out of the way, how about doing something about Victoria's sewage situation. "The solution to pollution is dilution" should not apply in 2016...

BC Ferries' Spirit of British Columbia approaching Swartz Bay Terminal with the 11 AM sailing from Tsawwassen - 14 December 2016. That is Moresby Island in the background *. Note the thin layer of west coast snow! * Apparently BC has two Moresby islands, this one being the smaller & more insignificant of the two. Still, like the other one, it makes a great ferry photo backdrop.© WCK-JST by Jim Thorne, on Flickr

SOBC refit January 2017, drydock Esquimalt. Good shot of her Becker rudders which is the source of her maneuverability. (flap on the end of the rudder turns with the rudder creating even more lift or directional thrust. At hard over its going nearly 90 degrees perpendicular to amidships.)

An interesting report of a near-miss, tonight on SOBC's 7:00pm trip. From passenger Landon Dix: From the great facebook group: "British Columbia Nautical History" from HEREWe will see if we'll ever see a report. Anyone seen a report from when the Queen of Nanaimo went aground in Village Bay during a windstorm a few years ago?

Anyone seen a report from when the Queen of Nanaimo went aground in Village Bay during a windstorm a few years ago? Sometimes the internal inquiry reports get released in a redacted version through an FOI request. Andrew MacLeod of The Tyee did a story on the Queem of Nanaimo's August 2010 hard-landing, using such a report for his story.

It seems less likely that there was an equipment/machinery malfunction. The SoBC is in full service today as #1 out of Tsawwassen on route 1.
