When did the Queen of Cowichan loose her full length gull wing, and why was on longer than Queen of Coquitlam full length gull wing? I would like to try & answer your question but, I have no idea what you are asking ... What do you mean by "gull wing"?

I'll try to check through my files for a reference.

They lasted only a few years on both ships.
The Oak Bay & Surrey never had arches. What they had could be described as arms, or even "wings" however (see second photo). The Spirit class had (have?) similar arms.

I kinda wish that BC Ferries kept the arches on the original C-Class and arm on Queen of Surrey and Queen of Oak Bay. Where arms both first and second generations that unreliable that they needed to be removed?

I gather that they were trouble prone.

Ultimately not surprised but mildly scared for what the rest of the summer has to offer, but currently on the Cowichan with an immense number of foot passengers and everything feels really full even food lines. Albeit there aren't any extra sailings on Saturday in either direction, like the rest of the summer looks, so I definitely think this will be my route to avoid this summer.
I understand why they've made these changes to be able to better handle heavy traffic out of Tsawasseen and by increasing lower fares there as incentive, but it still sucks as far as convenience goes using Route 2 vs 30.

I was going through some photos and found a photo of the Queen of Cowichan. Just behind the wheelhouse on the #2 end is a large, white box or housing. What is that?

The Queen of Cowichan has left Departure Bay and is toodling around the Strait. Sea trials, maybe? She's back in service on Thursday.

On the Coquitlam now watching the Cow do big loops, must be sea trials? Something a little different to watch!

Little bit of an engine run-in after a main engine rebuild, and some other operational component repairs and upgrades. She'll be back on the run after a final cleanup later this week..

Care to try again? Your sentence doesn't make any sense. I guess many here don't know much about internet slang. I was pretty much mentioning the common issues that I have noticed on the Queen of Cowichan which I was trying to put it in a more "joking" way. On a more serious note tho, This really is not ideal at all for those with disabilities and who need the elevator. What the article also fails to mention is that people who are on the Deck 2 and 3 are going to be even more screwed over by this as they will have to leave the car deck. This isn't even the first time this happened on the Cowichan either. I remember back in summer 2015 going back to Vancouver on the ferry and all the elevators were broken and according to someone at the chief stewards office, a few days earlier there was a bus that had a bunch of seniors onboard and would require the elevator, but since none were working, the crew had to help them all up which apperently took MORE THAN HALF OF THE SAILING to do. Also, I have found that the Cowichan (along with the Coquitlam) have really been neglected by BC Ferries over the past 5-7 years. Both are looking pretty run down compared to the rest of the major fleet, and when I was last on the Cowichan, at the end of the sailing I smelled what smelled like rotten eggs on the car deck which was probably coming from the engine room. I honestly can't imagine the condition of the engines on the vessel at this point. Of course along with all 3 Coastals having some major issues and what looks like to be at least another 7-10 years before we get new vessels, this will probably be something we will see more often for a while.
