Q'O-B seen on her first sailing of the day on a sunny September 2014 day: - notice the small craft on the far right side of the photo, for a bit of size contrast I love the lighting of the Sunshine Coast mountains, and the early sun lighting on the ship

Just happened to check my marine traffic and the Oak Bay just left departure bay. Looks like she's back from refit and took over from the coquitlam for the 9pm sailing

The Queen of Oak Bay has been cancelling sailings every couple of days now for a week. Any idea what is going on?
If C Class I always guess clutches, as that's their common downfall, but obviously that is a tongue in cheek sort of statement.
Where is the Queen of Coquitlam. If these is re-occurring it seems like time to do some temporary vessel swapping until there is resolution.

Queen of Oak Bay has a couple cameo appearances in this tide-lapse video of mine. There's also a glimpse of Queen of Coquitlam arriving, at the end.
I will spoil the ending for you: The tide comes in.

I wasn't able to get photos today (forgot my camera), but there have been some significant changes to the interior of the QUEEN OF OAK BAY, since I was on her last. All the seats seem to have brand new upholstery. I'm not a big carpet observer, but if they're not new, they're nicely cleaned. The gift shop is a lot bigger, and has 2 large entrances from both sides of the vessel and doesn't open into the snack bar area. I'm pretty sure the snack bar has moved and the seating increased... it was kind of hard to picture in my mind how far things have moved, but I got a few surprises when I walked through some doorways today. - John H

Interesting, John. If someone gets on there please share some photos! Alternatively I need to go to the Mainland in two weeks so perhaps I'll use Route 2 and observe the changes. I'm Route 1 over-exposed

Interesting, not sure if I like that, but looks like they have gotten some more seating in there. I have no empirical evidence to support this claim but the smart phone (and similar devices) must have really taken a huge bite out of revenue from the arcade. Seems like, in the contemporary environment, a fairly poor if not nostalgic use of space.

In what's in the photo - yes - new carpet.

Hello from the Queen of Oak Bay's 7pm sailing. Here is all the changes I've noted so far, and I'll get some poor quality photos up later (several of these are previously mentioned):
- replaced material on the seat bottoms. Colour appears unchanged; - replaced material on the seat tops with different shades, slightly, then used before; - cafeteria seating against the walls has deep red and blue colours; - family washrooms where the arcade space previously was; - new carpet in the kidz zone and A & B end lounges; - gift shop is entered via the sides as opposed to the snack bar seating area as had been done previously. Must be a good one third larger. Where seating had been for the snack bar is mostly the gift shop now; - most of the snack bar seating is communal, and the table of accessories has been moved to the side. The new seating here also adds twenty or so outlets, I imagine this is close to doubling the amount available on the ship; - 2 pay phones. I think this is a reduction, but who knows I haven't paid attention to that really; - flat screen TVs in the side seating points at the extreme ends for four total; and - two large flat screens behind the serveries in the cafeteria and then two sets of two at the entrances where there had previously been a board showing menu items on cards.
The dog area was a big let down after the news release on the matter. In order to facilitate the cages, which I do appreciate, they took the already insanely small pet area on these ships and made it smaller. I'll continue to avoid the C Class is walking on with a dog.
Not changed is the washrooms which aren't too phenomenal - at the least it would have been nice to see the actual toilets replaced as they've got very bad rust staining that I assume isn't easily cleaned (or they'd do it).
Generally though the ships looking nicely refreshed. Minor enough the casual passenger probably didn't notice the change that much, but come summer I'm sure there will be a lot of laps as people search out the arcade. I could see the C class all losing the arcades, along with the Spirits, over the next three years. Will be interesting to see when it's done on the Coastals which aren't due for any major work I would think.
