Here is a fun timelapse video that I did on Sunday Oct.28th.
I shot 85 minutes of video from same location, of the various movements in the Nanaimo harbour and on the pedestrian walkway. - Sped-up 8x, it is a 10 minute video.
Lots of seaplanes, people with dogs, a lady with her walker, 2 appearances by Coastal Inspiration, a few appearances by the Protection Island ferry, But Quinsam is the star: - Quinsam appears 3 times in this video, so I'm posting it here:

Quinsam's departure-spin from Nanaimo. - January 2012.
I like the effect of the moving-background, seen at the end of the ferry

Here's another sped-up video, this time of Quinsam arriving and leaving at Nanaimo harbour terminal. - afternoon on January 12, 2013. - sped-up 5x.
My location is on the harbourfront walkway, just below the Cameron Island condo tower. Good angle for approach and departure.
When she arrives, the sped-up video makes it look like she bashes the floating dolphin pretty hard, but it's not that bad in real time.

The scene approaching Descanso Bay is sped-up 7x. (I forgot to mention that in the sub-titles)

Quinsam seen from the beach at Gallows Point, Protection Island. - I was there on May 4, 2013 and saw Quinsam sail past me 7 times. The basic Nanaimo waterfront view, nicely lit by the sun. Quinsam in the shadow of the Cameron Island (not a real island anymore) condos Quinsam with the Carrier Princess Quinsam with Queen of Alberni, near Duke Point Showing my location on the rocky beach with the incoming tide. My tripod is set low, close to those rocks.

"Quinsam shot at dawn" is a regular posting theme of mine for ferry photography. I hope you'll tolerate a few more, from this morning. - shot from the visiting vessel float, beside the Cameron Island condos in Nanaimo. Here are 2 stills of Quinsam (ex MV Friendly Fox). - she's holding in the dock for a skipped round-trip. This is the usual Sunday morning routine (except for summer) and she bunkers during this time, using a drive-on fuel truck. The video is 2 hours (6:30am to 8:30am) sped-up 50-times. - Quinsam is just a cameo player in this. The main star is the morning sky and how it changes from black to pink to orange to blue.

Second shot, in particular: a complete loser by Shipspotter standards, but a lovely bit of work for us to enjoy. Mother nature's artistry combined with mankind's industry. Thanks for getting up at such a rude hour to take those, Mr Horn.
