Sunset footage of the Queen of Capilano and Surrey from Bowen Lookout I shot on Monday.
I could have listened to that background music for hours. Nice shot, well done.

The Capilano, coming & going, at a snowy Horseshoe Bay on 11 February 2019. While I was down on the shoreline in the Bay, Mike was up on the cliff above the Bay shooting pics from his vantage point. Further, I am thinking that another WCFF member, paulvanb , was aboard the outbound Capilano, also taking pictures. Do great minds think alike?

For those of you who work for BC Ferries, why does the Queen of Capilano have a mandatory layover at Sung Cove after her 11:15 sailing from Horseshoe Bay? She is If she is on time, she should leave at 11:50. Instead, she leaves at 12:15.

Was that the only area blocked off on the Capilano?? I’m sure curious to see what route 1 is like!

Not sure why they aren't using the overhead walkway for her. They use it for the other ships there. It would greatly reduce their time in port. Not buying the covid-19 on this one.

Possible to keep routes on time and trying to keep passengers physically distance from other passengers on major routes.

Possible to keep routes on time and trying to keep passengers physically distance from other passengers on major routes. Was there a Nanaimo bound ship using berth 2 at the time? Using the overhead walkway would give the Capilano a quicker turn around time vs footsies unloading via main deck. And this is true enough if the Capilano was the only ship using that particular walkway. However the overhead walkway that you use to board in berth 1 is also needed for berth 2. If You notice there are 2 boarding ramps at the end of that walkway, one for berth 1 and one for berth 2. Unfortunately it can't be used for both berths at the same time. The Nanaimo ship would probably be preferable because of more footsies going to and from Nanaimo vs Bowen Island. See this picture Scott uploaded, it illustrates the walkway configuration perfectly. www.flickr.com/photos/bcfs/8045526783/There may be other issues at play too that prevents them from using it, such as tide conditions, etc.

Well, about every 2 years they use the Bowen queen for about 2 months, because the queen of cap goes in for repairs.

hey, does anyone know the engine type on the cap? I know it's made by Rolls Royce but that's all I know about the engines.

All engines in the 7,305 hp diesel-electric propulsion system were serviced. The ship's crew completed the three Bergen diesel mains, Beaver Electrical Machinery (Nanoose Bay BC) did the three main Siemens 1,700 KW generators and Electro Motors (Port Coquitlam BC) completed the four Siemens 4,160 generating motors. Had an afternoon shoot on Bowen Island yesterday. Without the gallery ramps I would have had to wait for the next sailing. Coming home, no problems.

The 8am sailing to Bowen Island this morning. I was shooting a property overlooking Howe Sound. I was filming off the deck of the property when the Queen of Capilano sounded her horn, then slowed down at 11am to commemorate Remembrance Day.
