The passenger lounge on the MV Mill Bay - below sea level. ;D Here's where we're going: The lounge. The photo collage is wonderful. A video clip that starts in the lounge, and takes you back up to the car-deck: ------------- ...and now a video of a walk upstairs to the upper-deck amenity-area:

The Mill Bay's crew have done a great job in having the historical photo collage displayed in the pax-lounge. - I took several photos of it, and have posted them here so that we have a historical record of it. -------- the overview: - the MV Brentwood was originally named the SS Cascade: - Harold Kennaird (Captain Cascade) - "Ode to the Cascade", written by Jim Gilbert Sr. of Brentwood Bay BC. - Newspaper notice for start-of-service in October 1924. - from the October 4, 1924 Victoria Daily Times. The promotional poster - part 1 - part 2 - the SS Cascade in 1928. - same ship: as the Cascade on the top, and as the Brentwood on the bottom - the Cascade's 1931 refit where her steam engine was replaced by a 144hp Gardiner diesel.

On Nov.18, 2010, I stopped at the Malahat lookout (Hwy 1) and enjoyed watching the MV Mill Bay for parts of 2 runs. I wanted to experience that high-up vantage point for this soon-to-be-retired ship. - I'll be posting photos over the next couple days, from this photo-op. ------------------- Video clip of her crossing from Brentwood Bay to Mill Bay: www.facebook.com/v/464542608646------------------ MV Mill Bay at/near the Brentwood Bay terminal: - loading for her next trip. - backing out of the berth - on her way

Those are very interesting pictures, Flugel. Clearly a zoom lens is a dangerous device in your hands. I wonder if the crew on the Mill Bay felt the hair on the back of their necks stand up a little, as if they were being watched .

I've moved some Spring 2007 archived posts of the MV Mill Bay into this thread.
- you can find them near the start of this thread.
They are by members Scott and Retro, and are of her refit time at Nanaimo shipyard.

Some photos of the MV Mill Bay approaching her berth at Mill Bay, on the cold and rainy morning of Dec.14, 2010. - When the Klitsa starts on this route, the course will change a bit, because she won't need to come close to the Sandy Beach area to set-up for backing into the berth. The residents at the Malahat reserve will miss those close-up views. - notice that the ship is dressed-up for Christmas. ---------------

There is more on the inside of her than the outside! WHERE is the passenger lounge? Any chance someone could sketch up a rough plan?

If you look throught this entire photo thread (only 2 pages long) you'll see plenty of photos of the below-decks passenger lounge. You'll even see a video post (by me in October 2010) that takes you on a tour from bottom to top. You'll even see the ship-layout diagram. .....you'll also see the passenger licencse document.......
