Victoria Regional Transit System has upgrade route 50 Langford to Downtown Victoria via local stops to route 95 Blink which is an express aBRT route. There are couple more routes which will begin service hopefully within next five years. This suggests an interesting question... at least to a layman like me. That being, in the metro Vancouver area, would it be cheaper to operate battery-electric buses than the existing network of trolley buses, drawing electric power from overhead lines? There certainly has been no real commitment in recent decades to expanding the trolley network. Certainly, in terms of flexibility in assignments, battery powered buses have the edge. Will we see the end of a power source that has been a part of Vancouver's transit for over a hundred years? |

The next ride upgrade in Comox Valley Transit System has completed by August 28. The next system to get upgrade is Whistler Transit System starting on September 5. |

Over past two years the 2009 Nova LFS have been going through refurbishment program which includes switching clothes seating to vinyl seating and changing orange destinations signs into white destinations signs which are easier to read. BC Transit has received funding to upgrade to three transit exchanges in Kelowna and Victoria is getting Victoria and Langford Transit Centre upgrade to handle electric buses.
