Two for the price of one @ Martel ... A loaded CP coal train on CN’s Ashcroft Sub moves west in the foreground while across the river a CN intermodal moves east on CP’s Thompson Sub. The CN train had a second locomotive on the tail end, while the heavy CP train had two remotes, one mid train & another at the tail end. 2 June 2018

I've been wanting to photograph the former BC Rail Dash 8-40CW full cowl units leading for a long time, never had any luck until this recent trip. When I saw the distinctive 4 ditch lights through the trees just east of Lytton I knew we'd be chasing this for awhile.

On my list of railfan regrets, not photographing BC Rail is right near the top. Other than a few shots around their North Vancouver yard I never ventured north from there. Luckily there are still a few BCR units roaming around CN in their original livery, even if they are looking a little shabby now.

Drone shot? Looks awesome! No drone, standing at the edge of the cliff! My first time going to Black Canyon and it is amazing, photos don't do it justice.

I was hoping to catch a train led by a UP engine on this trip but all I could find was this UP DPU heading west near Basque. I don't usually post DPU's but I'm going to break my own rules with this one.

The lease units that CN has been using for the past year or so definitely add a splash of different colours to the front of CN freights. Citirail 1525 leads CN 417 west, near Fort Langley. August 14, 2018. CREX 1525 - Hydro by Michael, on Flickr
