With all funding that BC Ferries has received which is meant to bring back normal service to pre COVID-19 schedule in summer. I was looking at route 1 schedule for summer which end secondary vessel out Swartz Bay at 12 pm Wednesday, and Friday to Sunday, on Thursday the schedule does have the vessel come back 6:00 pm for round trip Queen of New Westminster does see her days ends at 6:00 pm Tuesday to Wednesday, Friday to Sunday but she comes back at 10:00 pm for a round trip on Friday. But every other major route seems like the schedule is going back to pre COVID-19 schedule. www.bcferries.com/seasonal-schedules?departurePort=TSA&arrivalPort=SWB&departureDate=20210707-20210907

CFAX1070 (victoria talk radio) just finished talking about the tighter pandemic restrictions and a caller just pointed out that BCF has been increasing sailings each long weekend since this all started. Feedback was near unanimous this is the opposite of what should be happening. This is obviously a struggle between providing supply and balancing demand, but on the whole, I'm inclined to agree... Although re-instating route 2 likely wasn't/isn't going to increase transmission rates, it seems in hindsight this was done too soon. I don't know what the ideal is, but perhaps something like a 4 sailing schedule for route 1 and 2 sailing schedule for route 30 is best until this blows over. I realise BCF isn't in a position to deny or question travellers, but I've noticed traffic has steadily increased and long weekends now are not that different than they were before pandemic. from August 10 2020 QNW: 1: lower car deck 2: upper car deck Attachments:

I wonder when BC Ferries will starting opening up more amenities on board vessels with things start to become the new normal? I'm calling never. Let's hope I'm wrong. I believe most of them were marginal money makers, and now the company is used to running without them. There's really very little that's stayed closed this long, and BC Ferries essentially joined only night clubs in keeping things shuttered.

This could be good opportunity to actually keep amenities on board that people actually use and get rid of amenities that take space such as Seawest Lounge could easily go? I think buffet on route 1 should change to full service restaurants and change coffee places into better use place that serves food, drinks other than just coffee.

If you have a watch at this video, you’ll see an interview between CEO Mark Collins and Bruce Williams. One of the topics came up was about the buffet, and how it may never return, at around the 3:30 mark.

I am kinda surprised BC Ferries hasn’t tried moving away from paper to reduce person to person contact.

Thanks for sharing that. While I'll be sad at the end of the buffet, I find that reasoning from the CEO to be pretty insincere (they stated it's because people have changing views of food service). Whenever there's been an end in any COVID related restrictions, it's been immediately apparent that things go back to normal quickly. I'd rather they just say it's not a money maker and be sincere.

I agree with you. I personally think BC Ferries should do a survey of all major route customers to see how amenities could be change or be eliminated for the new normal times because it could be revenue positive since passenger had say on they wanted on board vessels. Hopefully it gets more people trying to bring back BC Ferries to crown corporation because it’s super essential to have ferries to all the communities and islands to continue have same or better service.

I'd rather they just say it's not a money maker and be sincere. I agree also, but I also understand why CEO's always talk that way -BS doesn't smell that bad when it sounds good. Still, I also wonder if the reason it's not a money maker anymore is b/c of labour costs. In any business, labour is usually one of the biggest hits to the bottom line. Still... even if the buffet was eliminated, those crewmates still need a job to do b/c of TC requirements. Is this correct?

study carousels have a good rule to follow the pandemic has created a new recycling category no phtographs, but tv's are back on now. i guess the prior policy of not wanting to encourage ppl onto passenger revenue decks is recinded now?

Is this Twitter true that buffet on route 1 will re-open in time for summer 2023?

Spirit Class may not have SeaWest Lounge open on busy sailing which is odd. I think the SeaWest lounge should be converted into extra seating on board vessels.
