Smoking should definitely be gone, I remember riding the Nanaimo through active pass on a lovely day but it was immediately ruined by the smell of smoke. I get that some people have addictions to smoking but the ferries are a public space with lots of people and their experience shouldn't be ruined by the odour of smoke.
As for lower deck I have a dog and she hates the ferries and gets anxiety and starts to cause havoc in our car so when she comes along for a trip my parents will take "shifts" with her. If that was banned it would make life a bit more annoying and she hates being around unknown dogs so I'm on the fence but I personally lean towards letting people stay on the lower decks.

Heres another article about the Nanaimo/LP5, they're talking about her like shes a five star hotel! Also they say she could hold 1500 passengers but how come here in canada her max was about 900? Is it because of different laws? Also it said that there was negative criticism about the boat, where would they have heard that? fijisun.com.fj/2017/11/15/mv-lomaiviti-princess-v-on-her-way/

I was just watching global news and they were talking about high winds and how the coastal inspiration was having problems with its turbocharger which helps with its steering... I don't know much about ferries or even engines but I'm pretty sure a turbocharger is not used for steering, it is a way of getting more power from an engine. Can someone clarify?

Yes I can confirm that the Nanaimos Airchimes have been saved. As for the Vancouvers I do not know. Yes, Confirmation the Queen of Nanaimo's Horns have been saved. They are destined for Salt Spring Island, as she spent her last 30 years based from there. There was a notion to keep her unique sound alive in the gulf islands. How come then in one of Scott's photo's of the decommissioning ceremony there was a picture of the Queen of Nanaimo's funnel and a whistle? Haved they not removed one of the trumpets? Are they not removing that so they don't have put put another one on or is that something from somewhere else for her journey to fiji? Thanks Charles

Does anyone else know why the coastal celebration's whistle, the highest tone in that video, why is it not sounding after a few seconds? It starts sounding then just stops kind of ruining the three tone whistle

(Sorry about the bad quality photos, I only have my iPhone 5c) Snatched up some pics from Deas FMU just off the Massey tunnel. Also saw the Queen of Burnaby but didn't get anything of her. Attachments:

I sent an email to a bcferries customer service employee and they said that she has not been retired and will be repaired but will not be used on the tsawwasen gulf islands route most likely ever again. She will be a "back up vessel" for the rest of the summer and will probably be retired at the end of the summer/fall

It sounds like everyone hear thinks the queen of Nanaimo has served her last day but it seems that bcferries still wants her back and serving 'till fall. So I wonder what will happen. I want one more trip on the queen but alas, the vessel may just have served her final voyage

The Raven has the best wrap in my opinion, it isn't huge (By that I mean crowded) and has beautiful accents of blue

Will the Nanaimo actually aloud to sail after she's retired from BCFerries? I mean she is 53 years old and that is a huge voyage to fiji and the refit is huge. Also I wish that BCFerries could salvage some things from the Queen of Nanaimo like her Airchime whistle and her wheel. Also does anyone know if the crew on the Nanaimo would let 13 year old teens on the bridge for a bridge tour?

The last time I went on the Queen of Nanaimo was in December but in that picture her paint doesn't look as rusted. Did they repaint her since then?

Queen of New West, heading back into the barn at Berth 2, Tsawwassen after the torch was handed back over to the Queen of Alberni once again today. The Queen of Alberni has just finished up her 3/4 life upgrade. As seen from the Salish Orca Queen of New Westminster arriving in Tsawwassen by Deck-dog SSI, on Flickr How tall is the Salish Orca!?

I found out that The Queen of Nanaimo’s whistle is composed of three stacked “KM” style whistles a KM-165, a KM-200 and a KM-250 to add up to the KM-456 that play an E-Major Chord. I knew about the whistle playing an E-major but I just found out this thanks to an assistant manager of customer relations

Does anyone know about what whistles the Queen of Vancouver had and what chord it played? The whistle on the Queen of Vancouver sounded an E major chord. What type of whistles, because I know that the queen of nanaimo plays an e major.
