I'm still not sure on this one. I still can't say for sure if I can make it, because I have a friend who's trying to plan my day for me. Maybe I should make him go on a ferry trip with me. Then just come by surprise, if you can. Edit: G** damn it, why can't I cut down on my post editing?!?!

But does anyone know what the availability of parking is likely to be in or around the parkade? At Horseshoe Bay? I doubt you'd have a problem. I've always found a spot there, even on summer weekends and long weekends.

You shouldn't have a problem getting parking at Horseshoe Bay this weekend at all. That's what I'm expecting anyway. Worst case scenario, there's always the small backup lot that is somewhat of a secret. It requires a bit of extra walking, so I'd guess you'd need an extra 15-20 mins to walk to the terminal. This lot is on Marine Drive, down by the Fire Hall, but it situated right under the off ramp where the Sea to Sky highway meets the Upper Levels, basically parallel to the toll booths, but on Marine Drive. But I'm 95% sure you won't have any troubles parking in the regular lots.
Just a reminder for people parking in Horseshoe Bay: In the outside lot, it is $12.00 to park for the day, and you must pay with Loonies and/or Toonies before you leave for your trip.
In the underground parkade you recieve a ticket when you enter the gate. You must hold on to this ticket until you leave the parkade with your vehicle. You don't need to worry about paying for the day until you return from the trip. When you return, you put that same ticket that you recieved when you arrived, into the machine, located in the parkade staircase, which will determine how much you owe for parking. Then you must show your ticket again after you have paid as you leave the parkade in your vehicle. I know I got some really bad looks one time when I thought I had to pay at the booth as you exit the parkade, causing the security guard to come and ask me some questions.

Me and Jordan will no longer be busing over, we're carpooling, so our ETA Downtown is revised to 10:30 am.

I might take a round trip on the Queen of Alberni myself on the day of the Nanaimo open ship. I could show my yellow sign to anyone who wants to come to the open ship via Tsawwassen. But only one person--my novice driver's licence doesn't allow more than one passenger.

It was all good, until the Cops decided to start pulling people with "N's" on the back of their car to look for any suspicions. Boy am I ever glad I'm not on the "Novice" probation anymore!

I don't like to display my Ferry Geek skills to anyone who's not willing to put out anything in return. Haha, just kidding. Just curious, is it a TV News crew, Newspaper, or Radio interview? Also, were you contacted by them, or did you contact them?

The 5:15 am out of Duke Point, of course--round trip.
That means I'd have to go to bed at 6 p.m. the prior night, get up at 2 a.m. and depart from Courtenay at 3 a.m.

Wow, you should just do the trip after the open house with me on the 3:15... so you don't have to get up at 2 am...

I'm Confirmed For the Nanaimo Open House. After a sailing on the Queen of Burnaby and a drive down the highway. I'll be at the Assembly Wharf waiting in line around 11:30-12:00, my parents probably will tag along with me. I'm Not Exactly Sure How I'll Meet Up With Other Forum Members. If you're there before the open house starts, Just Look for somebody with a Black Shirt that Says "BC Ferries Life on the Coast", a Dogwood BC Ferries Hat, and probably wearing black pants with a black jacket. and if all else fails I might make myself noticeable by taping a printed picture of a Cinnamon bun on my shirt/jacket. [joke]Who knows, maybe I'll catch a Jordan or a Flugel with that cinnamon bun picture. LOL[/joke]
