CI has sailed from DPB as the 8:15pm.
SoBC has sailed from TSA as the 7pm.
Alberni is heading towards TSA at 5 knots.
The 8:15 westbound sailing on route 30 has been canceled, as has the 9pm westbound from HSB.
Route #2 is still held in both directions.

The CC arrived TSA 9:16pm and the SOBC left at 9:25pm. I guess the 9pm from Swartz Bay will leave around 11:15pm or so!

The 5:45 departure from Duke Point (Alberni) docked at TSA at 10:20pm. Originally scheduled arrival was 7:45pm.
10:45pm sailing from Duke Point canceled.
No movement on route #2. Both ferries are in their home docks at the moment. If BCFS moves them tonight it will cost a fair bit of overtime to bring them back to their normal positions for tomorrow.

Queen of Coquitlam, currently at DPB, has been tied up for the night. Oak Bay will do one round trip HSB - DPB when/if the weather clears up, meaning that everyone waiting at DPB for the 7pm sailing will be able to board no earlier than 2:00am and arrive at HSB no earlier than 4:00am.
Weather delays are one thing, but shutting down a ferry to save one set of crew overtime hours is just BCFS being cheap and showing no respect for its passengers.
They're waiting for a wave height reading from Halibut Bank somewhere below 2.2m before sailing.

4hrs 35min sailing on the Alberni. I dont know why they just wouldent go to HSB and unload?? I bet passengers would rather do that then sit out there waiting to dock for hours. I saw in the webcams that cars were turning around at Departure Bay and getting refunds in looked like. I dont get why route 2 couldent sail as both terminals are sheltered.

Route #2 is a no-go because of wave height en route rather than terminal conditions. For whatever reason BCFS isn't willing to send C-class ferries into 2.2 meter waves. I have no idea how much of this is a ship safety issue vs. a passenger safety and comfort issue.
Halibut Bank is now reporting 1.8m waves. Oak Bay might go any minute now.
SoBC docked in SWB at 11:10pm and departed, as the 9pm, at 11:35pm. ETA 1:10am.
CC docked at SWB at 11:40pm.
CI departed TSA, as the 10:45pm route 30, at around 11:30pm.
Oak Bay departed HSB at around 12:05am.

Oak Bay docked at DPB at 1:50am, departed for HSB at 2:20am, arrived at 4:20am.
I believe this is a record for the latest/earliest southern region sailing.

I think the Sunday evening demand was higher at the mainland terminals due to the BC Lions game. Given that so many people were trying to get home on the Island that evening without somewhere to stay on the mainland made BC Ferries decide to do a round trip at such a late time.

And the Oak Bay would of only had like 2hrs 10mins downtime last night before her 6:30am sailing. I saw cars turning around at Departure Bay in the webcams last night so the 2:20am sailing was probably pretty dead and a long night for the crew! Would u serve late dinner or early breakfast at 2am? lol!

Winds in Sandspit are currently 91km gusting to 130km/h. Needless to say the Thursday Haida Gwaii crossing has been delayed. I'm suspecting there's enough demand to warrant the crossing, because they've tentatively delayed the Prince Rupert departure to Skidegate to Friday at 6pm, 5 hours after its regularly scheduled departure for the Inside Passage route.
On an aside, flights to Sandspit and Prince Rupert have also been cancelled this morning.

I Guess not because I have been checking all this week for the service notices must not be that important. They do not even put one up when C-Class become the main vessels on route 2.

Seeing the Rennie has less amenities than the SOBC you think they would. I can see confused passengers now wanting the Buffet on the Rennie! Maybe I will take a trip this afternoon not that I want to go on two coastals though but I do need a trip.

...And here's the service notice we've been expecting for awhile: www.bcferries.com/bcfservicenotice?id=755090I believe the Tachek is the last dogwood-ized vessel in the fleet. All other ships have been coastalized in passenger areas as far as I know. It sounds like it has been confirmed that the Tachek will replace the Tenaka next September. Perhaps the Tenaka will replace other minor vessels before decommissioning?

It seems funny that the Tenaka is the replacement as that was her main route before wasent it? Yes the Tenaka main route was Quadra Island – Cortes Island. But the unusual thing for Cortes/Quadra route is that the main ship (Tenaka) had poorer vehicle capacity than the replacement ship (Tachek). This is re the amount of overheight space, which makes a lot of difference on a small ship. Cortes residents were happy to have Tachek for all of Summer 2012, and they will be disappointed to have Tenaka back for all of Summer 2013.

Service notices all up the coast from Route 1 all the way up to Campbell River. Sailings have been cancelled today because of high winds - it must be bad out there. I'm in Vancouver and there's barely even a breeze (wet snow all day - not sticking) so I'm kind of surprised with all these cancellations popping up on Twitter even on the south coast.

It is very blustery outside my Nanaimo home today. So blustery that I don't even want to go outside to take photos of the Queen of Coquitlam today. ;D
