I was at Horseshoe Bay on Saturday delivering the Niece and Nephew back to their dad. He came over on the Rennie. I haven't been able to do much traveling to the Island so have not had a trip on any off the Coastals yet.
In the wind it took them over 10 minutes to berth. Is that standard or just on windy days? It would seem to me if that was standard any efficiency is completely out the window.

Wikipedia is trying very hard to make sure that all of their articles are 100% correct and referenced. I was just doing a little looking on Wiki Mr. Cadmunkey and I had a chuckle. Was it a joke or just a mistake but take a look at the great pic of the Chilli you put up. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Cadmunkey/Queen_of_Chilliwack ;D

The last of the evacuated residents in West Kelowna are set to return home this evening at 5pm. Now the cleanup begins.

Funny I thought it was backwards as well and that it was Horseshoe Bay but then it looked like there was too much boat traffic for the age of the picture.

New Flyer, Coming to the Kelowna area shouldn't be a problem just let them know that coming through Kamloops to Vernon will be the easiest as coming across the Number 3 to Rock Creek has been really busy the last few days.
Nokian, The photo with the lake was taken at Bertram Creek Park which was in the middle of the fire. The flames almost hit the lake at this point. I worked on a house not a 5 minute drive from there after the '03 fire

Being that I live here in the Kelowna area great views and shots available of the fire. The Glenrosa fire continues to hold between 350 and 400 ha while the Rose Valley fire grew from 100 to 150 ha over night. I will post shortly the shots of took yesterday of the smoke from all three fires. The Terrace Mountain this morning was approximately 850 to 900 ha.
I will post the images shortly.

The forum always needs a few Jimmy reference as so much of his life, at least in song, was based on the water. ;D

Well put Dane. I must say I agree with you. Typically I am a conservative at heart but here in BC it seems you must vote for the least of all evils and that currently appears to be Green. Unfortunately thinking that way in our current political and fiscal climate it seems like a wasted vote.

John,
I am in Kelowna working in the Insurance Restoration Industry. I noticed moving up here that everything seems to take 50% longer than on the cost and yes we pay for it. The company I work for doe have office in Victoria, Duncan, and Nanaimo and I hear from the guys there, many who as well came from the Lower Mainland, that they find the same thing.

I guess that one of the characteristics of small islands that I like the most is how drivers wave at both pedestrians and drivers of cars headed the opposite way--regardless of whether they know each other or not. I've seen that happen all the time on Cortes, Texada, Malcolm, and Cormorant. The Islanders' Citizenship Test...if you don't wave, you obviously ain't no local! And, if you think I'm kidding...trust me, I'm not! Heard not so nice things about "visitors" muttered enough times. ;D Plain and simple LMAO. Too true and I think our Lovely Texada is one of the best for the commentary.

Great Photo Markus. It really is intriguing to see the incredible size difference. One picture to the next just doesn't show how much larger the ships become.

[ The other thing to know is that there is a HUGE hill coming into Bella Coola by land. It is not something you want to encounter if you are not ready for it. A little more information about the Hill can be found here: www.bcadventure.com/adventure/travelogs/discovery/discovery.htm. We don't want to discourage you, but you need to be aware of some of the obstacles you will encounter traveling to Bella Coola. It will be a incredible trip, especially with sufficient planning. Not to belabour the point Cedric, but I have to agree with D'Elete. I have a good friend who was doing a trip into Bella Coola in a Cubevan. About 1/2 way in from the top he found his brakes to literally be on fire. Coming out wouldnt be so bad but coming the Ferry would be the best bet.

It is amazing that they are using photos in their press release that look all together like photos already on the Board. Wonder if staff got paid for their use. HMMM

Yes I have Dirt, but teaswer to start D'elete. I was just flipping through the Crew board asnd saw this "BCinNJ as carpenter! Oh my, everything will be overbuilt but will look great." I was thinking Mechanic and then, Cryptic Laugh, "Cape Horn Interchange" I will let D'Elete go from there. ;D

Funny, funny, Remember the uproar at the time when they were proposing they ferry service into Anderson Bay. I seem to remember having to leave the room when they all got into it. LOL I'm sure both of you have been imbibed to an unsanitary degree with the local passions and protests of Texada culture. For a community that wants no one in it's backyard, you'd think they'd want less ferry service, so they could then keep themselves that much more cut off from the civilized world ;D. I very much have to agree with you Mill Bay. If the most of the citizens of the Island , including some family, could find a way to transport themselves to the middle of the pacific they would. However, since that is not possible they will ask for larger service to get the intruders off the Island quicker. quiet chuckle.

This is a little off topic, but in response to FerryTraveller's comments regarding the Burnaby's replacement plan, I heard a few proposals for Route 17: -2 85-AEQ vessels on a triangle between Texada-Westview-Comox -1 140-AEQ vessel and 1 50-AEQ vessel in the existing arrangement -1 185-AEQ vessel on the triangle lol...expect lots of NIMBY attitude for options 1 and 3. Though the triangle route was convenient the couple of times it was tried, I don't think the Texada public would be too appreciative of it, especially seeing both options would produce a reduced service schedule. Also, and here's where the NIMBY attitude would really factor in, the additional exposure to outsiders would be viewed as detrimental. I know the island and it's people pretty well, and there's a reason many of them live there. Most of them are happy to be three ferry trips from Vancouver, no matter how you shake it out. ;D Funny, funny, Remember the uproar at the time when they were proposing they ferry service into Anderson Bay. I seem to remember having to leave the room when they all got into it. LOL

From Pipers Lagoon: ================= And she's turning in towards Nanaimo, starting to come in from her Saturday trial. I just can't keep myself from commenting on these photos. THIS SHIP IS MEANT TO BE PICTURED UNDER GRACEFUL MOUNTAINS! Absolutely beautiful photography!! No matter where a ship is built (like the flat lands of the Baltics), she looks better under towering mountains. I love mountains and these photos mean a tremendous lot to me. Thanks for sharing, Mr. Musical Moderator! I couldnt agree with Ferrynut more. Awesome photos showing the new pride of the fleet.
